Documentary on BBC4 at 9:00 pm.

Always loved Chris Difford's lyrics. Also live in concert about 11:00. From 1982, when Jools Holland was having his sabbatical I think.

Most interesting bit was about the group dynamics. Glenn Tilbrook was a bit of control freak. Jools Holland got pissed off as he became marginalised. Chris Difford was off his head on cocaine half the time, and Gilson Lavis was a bit of a pisshead.

Rock and Roll lifestyle destroys band etc etc

Focused too much on the later years. I thought Cool for Cats and Argy Bargy were brilliant but they went downhill after that.

Tilbrook looks a bit like PM now

I am given to understand that Mr Tilbrook was a very promising petro-chemical engineer/ plastic technologist whose head was momentarily turned by the bright lights and causal sex offered by the fleeting fame associated with being in a pop-music combo.

While some might subject themselves to be disfigured by tattoos to honour their heroes, Mr Tilbrook appears to have willingly undergone major re-constructive plastic surgery to emulate his.

Now thats where you must be going wrong, LD.
Poking about in ears and that. ..
But wearing a pink, Lacoste t-shirt does help also.

And a degree of disinterested whistling while looking around the room would add to the overall casual experience.

This must be doing the repeat rounds. I found it on BBC 4 this week. Apart from the most famous singles I don't know much about Squeeze but I really enjoyed the docu. I think FC's summation misses some of the better bits. Notably the very touching relationship, and superb collaborative songwriting methods that Difford and Tilbrook were part of. As I say I know feck all about Squeeze but I think Difford comes across as a really bloody nice (and talented) bloke, and I liked Glenn Tilbrook as well. I know what FC means about the ego but I think that's why these docu's are good because the main players can look back and be philosophical about where their heads were at in a particular era. GT's voice sounds a bit John Lennony to me. I might even buy a Saueeze Best Of after watching this. Some really strong songs.

PS The docu is called: Squeeze: Take Me I'm Yours. Available on iplayer.

Going to give this a look as i missed it the first time around. I like Squeeze and find that they are one of my favourite 'sing a long to' bands.
Think that they are touring again later this year but the tickets are on the steep side if i remember rightly.

I fucking hate Squeeze. Yet I know nearly all the words to most of their singles.

I know I bought at least one of their singles because it was a silly colour.

I've bought things for worse reasons.
