My first math of the season. A few pints in Wetherspoons at Morley followed by a few in my old stomping ground, the Old White Hart in Beeston, then a manic swifty in the Peacock set me (and my son) up nicely.

I will leave LD to do what he does best and provide a more eloquent match report than I could ever do, suffice to say this match started off like a chess game. A lot of knocking it around the back four by both teams and a set of midfields who cancelled each other out. neither goalies were really troubled although Green did come to our rescue in the first half with a fine save after a deflection. This game definitely had the hall marks of a 0-0.

But the half time team talk from Monk must have been the most effective. A couple of changes in positions and Leeds looked the more dominant as the 2nd half got under way.  Without threatening the Brighton goalie too much the football was starting to be played more and more in the Brighton half.

And then I suppose what has become the inevitable happened, a decent cross found a very inform striker and Leeds were 1 nil up. Then followed about 10 minutes of Brighton dominance as Leeds sat back. a couple of personnel changes by monk and the equilibrium was restored. Leeds got a penalty and the last few minutes were made enjoyable rather than on the edge of your seats stuff.

Verdict - we were playing a very good and well organised team who have been challenging for promotion for the last few years. We were equal to them, maybe home advantage helped. And it was also good to see that we are not a one man band given a certain Scandinavian cult hero was dropped to the bench and his replacement played really really well.

One thing I did notice was the refound atmosphere at ER. There is a level of blind optimism not been felt for years. Will we get into the play offs. Yes. Will we go up, hmmmmmmmmmmm, nahhhhhhhh, we are Leeds aren't we.

The day was then rounded off with a few more pints in the Peacock and then cut short by the son nagging to get home 'cos he was off to meet his bird.

Good day was had by all though

Defence looks solid no matter who's playing. Green is inspiring. Results seem to be going our way as well. MOT.

Not these days H. I lost the interest in doing any kind of detailed report a while back due to a combination of a few things. What an evening though last Saturday was. A real Old school Leeds United day. Gary Monks victory if we are going to pick anyone out. Obviously it took bottle to drop Pontus but to also play it deep and cautious in the first half took resolve in such a big game. His subs were also immaculate in timing and strategically perfect.
