|Catching up on a few films at the moment. The latest is Denial.
Basically it is showing the real life trial of an American (and Jewish) historian Deborah Lipstadt who is accused of libel from British holocaust denier David Irving.
This film doesn't quite hit the mark to be honest. Yes there are the harrowing scenes in Auschwitz of today as the defendants look for evidence to show that Lipstadt is actually a liar. But the court scenes don't really do it for me.
Timothy Spall plays Irving and he is good (shows what talent he does have) but you are never quite fully sickened by Irvings outbursts (flash backs to speeches he gave in private).
This film could have been a whole lot more compelling
