So much for that then - we lost 4-0 this week.

Indeed. I would say that coughing up a lame penalty in the first minute wasn't the best strategy.

Oh well, I guess we won't be playing in Europe next season.

A weird season - we ended up P10, W8, D0, L2, but this wasn't enough to get us promoted, let alone make the interdivisional play-offs. Bollocks.

Let's hope England do better, eh?

Wembley only fit for bog-snorkelling after those leviathans trampling all over it at the weekend.

That's the problem we have here - the center (sic) of the pitch is like something out of the First World War. *

* Only this time, the Yanks turned up at the start...

Didnt realise England were playing Spain tonight. Dunno how long ill stick with it but they look a much better team without Rooney. Not that i have anything against the lad, i dont mind him but his best days are a long way back aren't they?

Agree with you LD. I've never disliked Rooney. Always had a good work rate but England need to move forward.

Don't think they are quite there. Still need a midfield general I think as they are all a bit niaive and light weight for me.

Spains first goal was down to them conceding possession in the oppositions penalty area. Should never have been able to get down field especially when  2-0 up and 6 mins remaining. Lad took the goal well though.

Agree with the above. There's still something "not quite right" about the England team, although they're not as painful to watch as they sometimes have been recently.

I was trying to work out if we looked good in the first half or if they looked bad. I suspect the latter.

They definitely started to outplay us once Morata and Isco made it onto the pitch. It didn't help that we lost Lallana early either.

The old Spain would've won fairly easily?

They are so naive and brittle, that's why they do shag all in competitions. They had that game sewn up last night. Defended well except in the last third for the least 15 minutes. You play a team like Spain or anybody for that matter when they mean business and everybody has to defend including the attack and you do not piss away possession like England did time and time again by trying the quick first time pass forward hoping to "catch them on the break"  Good defenders are just too good for that to come off and Spain intercepted everything to quickly go back onto the attack.

That silly young pillock who came on looked like he was going through the motions for another England Cap to his name. He's supposed to be our great hope isnt he? but to me he represented everything I don't like about watching England these days. He thought the game was won and didn't have to bust a gut working. He gave away the first goal with his slackness and did fuck all to give the midfielders any options to keep possession.  Shame really for most of the players who looked like they really wanted it.

I've said it before but we are seeing the product of this over coached FA system that strips out any natural mentality and turns them into zonal animals i.e. you live in that triangle on the pitch or else.

They may have more technical ability than the likes of Bryan Robson, Stuart Pearce, Tony Adams etc but they have had that thought process coached out of them which says a football pitch is 100yds x 60yds

Rooney's the latest 'senior' player to be retained in the national team beyond his sell-by date (see also Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard).

We seems to have had dozens of promising young players over the last ten years who have never delivered.

I blame the Premiership. Too much money too soon. No real interest in playing for their country.
