No idea why this (admittedly thoroughly independent - they put together their own stats etc) fantasy footie league I'm in has so many sideshow competitions, but they're off to the hosses again this weekend, so if you've any insight on:-

QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes  -  1:20pm, Ascot  -  Saturday 17 October 2015
(Muhaarar, Strath Burn, Twilight Son)

QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes  -  1:55pm, Ascot  -  Saturday 17 October 2015
(Candarliya, Covert Love, Simple Vers)

Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (QIPCO British Champions Mile)  -  2:30pm, Ascot  -  Saturday 17 October 2015
(Solow, Gleneagles, Top Notch Tonto)

QIPCO Champion Stakes  -  3:05pm, Ascot  -  Saturday 17 October 2015
(Racing History, Vadamos, The Corsican)

I'd be interested.

You have to pick three nags for each - I've put my initial (thoroughly uneducated) guesses under each, but if there are any decent long shots that might make it into the top three, feel free to steer me in the right direction.

Or not. It doesn't really matter.

I'm getting increasingly concerned about your drift into gambling hell young fella m'lad. A few tips here, little flutter there, wont be long before you're auctioning a kidney.

It will at least only be a virtual kidney - I'm not stupid enough to put real money on these things - they are virtual GBP10 stakes.

Mind you, if I can guarantee they'll win...........

The footie team I have isn't doing horribly - I'm currently second in the "top" league (there are three divisions with relegation/promotion) - although it is heavily reliant on Manchester City keeping clean sheets, which they've stopped doing of late.

There is a quite intense (and drunken) auction at the start of the season and, with a bit of subsequent transfer activity, I have ended up with:

Krul
Lloris

Kolarov
Brunt
Bacuna

Mangala
Kompany
DeMichelis
Gabriel

Puncheon
Agbonlahor
Henderson
Chadli
Ritchie
Oscar
Adam

Benteke
Sturridge
Remy
Graham

I guess Krul will have to be shipped out sharpish (Ruddy is the only first team GK available - d'oh!) and there are a couple of injuries and, well, shit players in there.

You have to pick a GK, 2xFB, 2xCB, 4xMF and 2xSK.

Scoring is three points for a goal, two for an assist, three points for a playing (at any point in the game) defensive player whose team keeps a clean sheet and a negative point for each goal shipped by a defensive player and a negative point for any non-playing defender on top of whatever his team lets in.

More fun than it sounds - I've been in this league for at least twenty years now.

* Sad fecktard. *

Put my own horse selections in - don't bother Dock.

Doooooock!

I have to do some "virtual" betting again.

This time on:-

3:30, Tuesday 15 March 2016  -  Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy

Already happened - I went for

Annie Power
The New One
My Tent or Yours

(No idea how they got on, natch)

However, I still haven't picked my future Pritt Sticks for:

3:30, Wednesday 16 March 2016  -  Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase

3:30, Thursday 17 March 2016  -  Ryanair World Hurdle

3:30, Friday 18 March 2016  -  Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase

Anything to pick (or definitely avoid) gratefully copied, pasted and claimed as all my own work

Nice one G! I backed My Tent Or Yours in the Champ Hurdle. Considering he hadn't run for two years he was an excellent second, but it was Annie Powers day. She looked the part and for a mare ran a cracker against the others.

Re Queen Mother Champion Chase, I've backed Felix Younger e/w. I'm not one for backing favourites, especially at Ceheltenham. I always look for value in any festival bet. There are all horses at the top of the their game so it's not just the short-priced favourites that win. I've taken him at 14/1.

Re Gold Cup. It's the best and most competitive field for a Gold Cup I have seen in years. I've taken the day off work on Friday so I can watch it. So many superb horses to choose from. I put my bet on for it back in January. I've gone with Djakadam. I got him at 7-2 and I really like how he ran in last year's race when he was a solid second to Coneygree.

Re World Hurdle. Haven't studied it yet but will get back to you.

Good Luck lad!

Good man - I basically picked because of the jockeys involved today, although I did have a bit of a peer at the hosses too.

Will take your advice on board and let you know which I pick.

Ta!

Tomorrow I've also gone with Rock the Kasbah 12/1 e/w in the Coral Cup (2.50), Balthazar King 10/1 e/w in the Cross Country Chase (4.10), and Augusta Kate 10/1 e/w in the Champion Bumper race (5.30).

But back to today, Annie Power was the star of the show. A worthy winner! I was there at Cheltenham last year when she had a bad fall at the last hurdle in the race she was in so a huge cheer for her today.

Who's a good horsey? You's a good horsey. Yes you is.

* Offers virtual carrot and sugar lump combo. *

Condescending Twat! Did you see the race? To hurtle around a stamina-testing course like Cheltenham over hurdles at that speed was a feat of athleticism by the horse, timing and pace by the jockey, and a top drawer training performance by Wllie Mullins. Shove your fucking sugar lump! I hope she snaps off some of your fingers at the same time.

Don't worry, I have the same approach with Leeds United players.

* Although they don't get many carrots or much sugar. *

I nearly put down God's Own, but Dock wouldn't let me.

Oh well, another two out of three, even if they probably were the favourites.

Just looking at Thursday - possibly the trickiest of the four to pick?
