Colin has undoubtedly had a galvanising effect on the squad. A number of players (Brown, Connolly, O'Dea) have improved since last time I saw them (Cov away   ), and the defence works better as a unit.

Shows how much i know about football.

Nice to see Brown get on the scoresheet

When I find myself in times of trouble
Brian Clough is there for me
Speaking words of wisdom
Seven Three

And in my hour of darkness
I'm still proud to be a Tricky Tree
Beating Leeds Untied
Seven Three

Seven - three, Seven - three
Seven - three, Seven - three
Beating Leeds United
Seven three

And when the broken hearted people
Singing on Trentside agree
There will be an answer
Seven - three
Fighting relegation
To the hell that is division three
**** off Neil Warnock
Seven - three

Seven - three, Seven - three
Seven - three, Seven - three
Beating Leeds Untied
Seven - three

We sing for Nigel Doughty
Stanley Collymore and Jason Lee
Blackstock and McCleary
Seven - three
Nottingham and City Ground
Nowhere else I'd rather be
Singing for the Forest
Seven - three
Walk along the Trent Bridge
There is no-one else as proud as me
Wear the Garibaldi
Seven - three

Seven - three, Seven - three
Seven - three, Seven - three
Beating Leeds United
Seven - three

Seven - three, Seven - three
Seven - three, Seven - three
Dirty Yorkshire *******s
Seven - three

* Bastards!

Well we were winning when we got there.

A delay on the road meant we were late and arrived just as Snods was hitting home the penalty for 1-0. Apparently Forest had already hit the post and looked worryingly lively as we took our positions and  mounted their response. Their precise and quick passing and movement bellied their lowly position. Maybe the scabs of the 4-0 wounding we gave them earlier in the season were still prickling.

White mad a speedy break but good Forest defending foiled him and they hit back,, slipping a Brown slide tackle and hitting a wonderful shot for the equaliser to suggest it might be wise to keep an eye on that lad for the rest of the match.

White and McCormack confused each other waiting for the same pass as the ball rolled into touch and already a hangover from Saturdays intensity seemed to settle. We were committing little fouls and giving away free kicks that a pedantic ref couldn't ignore. The already fragmented flow stuttered further as a Forest player went down and we hit the ball into touch. More scrappy play followed with a ball back to Lonergan our only way of keeping possession. Bouts of head tennis ensued with Forest picking up the loose balls.

White tried to pick the tempo up with a fast break and cross twice in succession, the second time he ran out of support and had to hold the ball up to start the move again. Forest replied with a drilled low cross from our left. Again we tried to probe down the right but failed to find any fluency. Clayton, maybe feeling the frustration took ball and man with it into touch with a robust challenge and a Forest throw.

Becchio tried a right wing burst but inevitably his pace got him nowhere. The Ref was adding to our malaise, this time for a foul against Snods for a perfectly good tackle. Forest tried a forward through ball but it ran into dead. Back they came from the dead ball and we looked lost. This time the shot was easily saved. We tried down the left but again the move broke down in front of the dugout. Connolly produced a hopeless chip down the channel to a red shirt and more ugly broken play followed ending with a feisty dig against a Forest player and a booking.

Snods switched down the right and got a foul to ironic cheers from the East Stand but he curled his free kick way too far and deep. Meanwhile Forest were continuing their neat passing game and movement forcing a corner that we cleared as the kop tried to muster some encouragement. We just couldn't keep the ball though. More clumsy head ball play ensued ending with the usual back pass to Lonergan but a superb throw released Becchio on the right who laid it off. White just failed to control it and the ball went dead.

Forest responded with a shot, a corner that we cleared and a volley hit way over the bar. The ref again failed to give us an obvious decision overlooking a hand ball and again we tried to bring the ball forward but no one seemed willing to show for it. Finally we managed to stretch Forest. Connolly was released down the right but his cross was blocked for two successive corners. Forest scrambled the second away as two minutes added time were announced. Snods managed to beat four men but his cross was blocked for a corner, maybe the last chance to score before half time. It was. Forest broke from it and hammered in to make it 1-2. A Becchio volley ended the half in which we were lethargic, lacklustre and tired. No midfield energy or creativity and no forward punch.

The second half started with Webber replacing White. Another Forest foul went unpunished but Robinson was in well with a recovering tackle. Connolly hot another poor ball to a red shirt and the ref ignored another hand ball as Forest forced a corner. More corners followed for Forest and the rotund Reid received some gentle stick from behind him in the kop. O'Dea appeared to be fouled as Reid got the ball back. He had ample time to measure the return cross for a simple knock in to make it 1-3 and a little gesture to his previous abusers behind him.

Incredibly within minutes we were level. An unmarked Becchio knocked in before Brown scooped in a half volley following a cleared corner to make it level 3-3. Alas before we had stopped scratching our heads in celebration we were behind again after a possible off side and a fantastic volley for 3-4 and the Leeds defenders looking quizzically at the linesmen to our left and us looking quizzically at our defenders.

We responded with a Ross cross and a reverse Becchio header that was easily saved before Forest attacked again down our right. Another blatant hand ball from Reid ignored and a foul before a low cross was simply tapped in to make it 3-5. A couple of Leeds defenders stared astonishingly at the ref but there is no excuse for the hesitant, disorganised casual defence we put up last night and indeed for most of the last four years.

We actually mustered a response first through Ross whose cross was blocked and the through Webber who produced a brilliant cut through again to force a corner. For a brief while I contemplated a - draw. Even the ref was shamed into giving us a foul when the linesman frantically had to remind him of it despite his steadfast refusal to see it.

The limping Robinson was replaced by Pugh and we kept possession despite a Forest player on the floor. Reid, annoyed by this scythed into Snods for a yellow card. The free kick into the box was cleared and the well hit resultant volley back equally well saved for a corner with the following glancing header just going wide. Any thoughts of a comeback vanished moments later collected, cut in .eased past Pugh and hit their Sixth with precision low into the bottom corner for 3-6

Still we tried to reply forcing a corner but it was swung over with too much pace. Billy replaced Becchio just after we blocked a Forest free kick to ironic little chants around the Kop " we're on the Pitch, if Billy scores" but it was Forest who scored next. Appearing off side but rounding keeper and center half before rolling it in for a record breaking 3-7.

Mass ironic cheers rang out for the next off side decision but they weren't serious. The crowd knew that despite some bizarre and blatantly absurd decisions we had been thoroughly outplayed. 2Next goal wins2 shouted pie man in reference to the fixture's aggregate scores but not taking into account away goals. A diagonal pass from Clayton found Billy off side and that was it for us, we beat a retreat into the night. I hate the booing more than losing.

So what the hell went wrong for us?  well for what it's worth i thought it was a culmination of several elements. Tired 35 year old legs in midfield, dreadful individual performances from Lonergan and O'Dea, an insipid Becchio, aimless White ineffective Ross and Snods and the usual Connolly. Collectively we had no one to galvanise and inspire. No one stepped up and took responsibility. Too many players hid when they should have showed. Forest wee excellent and surprised their fans as much as us. We listened to the Radio for a while in the car but turned it off when Eddie told us he wasn't expecting that. No, quite Eddie.

Untill we get a chairman and manager who will pay for and build a squad of players with real Premier ambition instead of a bunch of average players at the peak of their limitations with a club they could never better in a great City that gives them everything they want these are the sort of games that will ensure we stay in this division for a very long time.

Well done LD. I'm guessing you didn't dare blink for fear of missing a goal, and the pencil was glowing red hot at the end of the match.

Not a statto - but i don't recall anyone ever putting seven past us at home before.

Tooo many players in the team have one good game, an indifferent one and a bad one.  When the bad ones coincide - it's a bit like a spring tide.

Welcome to ER Colin.
