Award winning photograph of Katie Walsh taken after a hard days racing at Kempton, that hangs in The National Portrait Gallery. Knackered but you can still see the fight in her eyes.

Crikey, I'm not sure the "western roll" was the best way to tackle that fence.

Some of the Budweiser Clydesdales roam in the field next to where I (sort of) play eleven-a-side football.

Awesome animals - they would just go through Beechers.

One of the greatest trainers Henry Cecil with undoubtedly the greatest ever British jockey Lester holding a copy of the old Sporting Life. I'm guessing the location is the Newmarket gallops. And I'm sure the Merc belongs to Henry. Its a very, er, Henry kind of a car. I'd love to know what they were chatting about.

How to avoid paying import duty on high priced foreign cars?

Weirdly, I might be interested in some Gee Gee help - I'm supposed to pick three likely horses for:

Wednesday 17 June 2015

Race 1:   3:40pm   Duke of Cambridge Stakes (formerly Windsor Forest Stakes)

Race 2:   4:20pm   Prince of Wales’s Stakes (British Champions Series)

Stage 7:  Thursday 18 June 2015

Race 1:   3:40pm   Ribblesdale Stakes

Race 2:   4:20pm   Gold Cup (British Champions Series)

Friday 19 June 2015

Race 1:   3:40pm   Commonwealth Cup

Race 2:   4:20pm   Coronation Stakes (British Champions Series)

Saturday 20 June 2015

Race 1:   3:40pm   Hardwicke Stakes

Race 2:   4:20pm   Diamond Jubilee Stakes (British Champions Series & Global Sprint Challenge)

I've already picked my hosses for the two races today (I usually just look at form for the last three or so races - I obviously have no insight!), but if you're looking at the races anyway..........

Tricky meeting to pick out winners for G. They don't call it 'Each Way Ascot' for nothing. I won't be having a bet all week. But at a glance without doing much studying I'd go with......

Wednesday

3.40 Duke of Cambridgeshire Stakes: Integral WIN
4.20 Prince of Wales Stakes: Free Eagle E/W or The Grey Gatsby E/W

Thursday

3.40 Ribblesdale Stakes: Curvy E/W, but you also have an Irish 1000 Guineas winner running called Pleascach. Very competitive race.

4.20 Gold Cup: Simenon E/W. Trained by an Irish Jumps trainer Willie Mullins but it's won at course and distance and WM is a shrewd cookie. He won't be sending it all the way from Ireland just to eat the grass!!

Friday

3.40 Commonwealth Cup: 27 declared runners, total cavalry charge. You could have the best horse in the race but if it gets caught in traffic and boxed in by lesser horses it's fucked. I never bet or try to pick out horses in fields that big. Good luck picking that one.

4.20 Coronation Stakes: Irish Rookie E/W. I watched it run an absolute cracker of a race at Longchamp earlier this season and it's the horse everybody is talking about.

Saturday

3.40 Hardwicke Stakes: Eagle Top E/W

4.20 Diamond Jubilee Stakes: Music Master. Its a sprint and the trainer Henry Candy has some of the best uphill training gallops in the business. I always back any of his if he sends one to York. But again like The Commonwealth Cup it's a big field so anything could win.

All those are from a quick glance at the Racing Post website just now and the runners and riders can change through the week dependent on ground etc., so don't shoot me down if they don't win......I know you will ha ha!

I picked these for the 3:40 and 4:20 today:-

Mecca's Angel
Shamal Wind
Muthmir

Gleneagles
Make Believe
Consort

(They're treated as "virtual" e/w bets - no cash involved, just bragging rights in an overall sports prediction thingummy)

Shamal Wind is another one that there is a buzz about. Make Believe is a real classy French raider. Re Muthmir, he's a really powerful lad. The second to last time he ran Paul Hanagan the jockey had trouble pulling him up after he'd won. He nearly did another circuit of the course. Looking forward to watching the Sky+ when I get in tonight! Pic of Muthmir and PH:

Muthmir third yesterday Grind and I picked out (see earlier post) 1st and 2nd in The Prince of Wales Stakes today. Photo finish between Free Eagle and The Grey Gatsby. I should have had a bet. Ah well, some people are born handsome and not rich.

1st 2nd and 3rd? Bloody hell lad well done. I backed Western Hymn in last years Derby but he didn't go well at all.
