Windsor

Going next weekend with the kids taking in Legoland. Anyone been to Windsor or Legoland any advice or tips? Is the castle any good bearing in mind my kids are 3&5 & me & Mrs Foo ain't really historians tbh.

I have not been to Windsor in years. The castle is quite impressive just from the outside. There were some soldiers there as i remember. Windsor itself was as you would expect it. A few tourist shops some expensive places to eat and a great flea marketthat had tons of old clothes and jewellery. I think there is a massive park out that way too. It has this mile long walk that leads you up to this fucking huge statue of some fella on a horse.

So there, i've undoubtedly filled your head with great ideas.

Also, you really aint that far from Thorpe park.

legoland will take the entire day in and of itself i would imagine.

i went to the one in denmark (get me)
it was fucking ace.

We plan on making a full day of LL but wasn't sure whether Windsor was worth bothering with. I think Thorpe Park maybe a bit too old for my kids. We've recently joined the national trust so may see if they've anything worth bothering with down there.

My brother and his kids have been to legoland a few times ,they love it,
it can get busy and you might want to take your own food and drink i think they have lots of areas where you can have picnics.Easier to keep the kids happy in legoland than at Windsor castle i would have thought, have fun the Foos

We came out of it naturally the worst
Beaten and bloody and I was sick down my shirt
We were no match for their untamed wit
Though some of the lads said they'd be back next week.

Dunno mate, never been.

If you want to visit a castle that's great for kids, you need to get yourself to Warwick Castle.

That's Legoland for you.

I slightly favoured sticklebricks when I was a nipper, but hated them both.

Def take your own food and drink. Youngsters of the age of yours will love it if it is as good as when I took my little ones about 15 years ago.

That pool is ace. It has a pirate ship in it. Sort of on the kilter as it were, like it was sinking. Has working water cannons. There is another part for smaller kids, under 5's i suppose but anyone can use it. It is a figure of 8 and this wave just keeps pushing you round it. So you can (not advisable) put your kid in a rubber ring and armbands, drop them in it and nip of to the changing room to drink that can of Special Brew you took along for emergencies without fear of the kids looking for you or being bored or in any real danger.

Lifeguards can be chopsy if they find a stressed parent in the changing room taking on emergency liquids but they are soon won over with charming tales and a story of not knowing any harm was being done.

Get there early as with all pools during the summer holiday.

As for the rest of Bracknell i am afraid i am not much help.

my dad used to get told by my mum to take me and my brother to the cinema but he never came in with us, he would go to the boozer. my mother never knew. weused to tell him what the film was about on the way home.

my brother was 5 years older than me and we barely spoke, loathed each other, so he would be told to look after me but then when we got inside we wouldn't sit together.
so i would be on my own with my kia-ora aged 5.
this went in for years.

my mum only found out about it fairly recently.
we never thought to tell her.

Special Brew pah! Carling Tops now your taking. I'm sure we'll be fine. There's a Bernie Inn next to the hotel now that is class.

Just a brief report whilst I'm still here. Legoland very good although much kids seem a bit young for the queuing etc. Food expensive & shit.

Windsor Shite for kids unless your doing the castle its wank. All built on a hill no good trailing a pram with sword's, sheilds, football's, Frisbee & 2 kids on it. Lots of blokes with flip flops on & everyone wears superdry or Ralph Lauren gear. No Greg's gutted is that a northern thing?

My vauxhall astra keeps on trying to give me a nervous breakdown  having only just passed its MOT it struggled down here. We'll set off in the morning & the AA may bring us back home.

We do have greggs in the south though you could be pushing it in Windsor. Keep smiling.

surely they have, like, real home bakeries there and not a chain. and appointed by queenie too, i imagine.

Legoland is ideal for kids of 6 upwards I'd of said. Try get a deal online & if in peak season save up a bit more & get a Qbot it queues for you & you go right to the front when it tells you to.

Take your own food its expensive shite. Loads of wasps there so if you've a fear of em its a no go. My kids enjoyed it but didn't really grasp the concept of a theme park.

Disappointed with Windsor very expensive, apart from boat rides & a  Ferris wheel that used to be at York "the Yorkshire Wheel" there's not much there apart from the castle. The queue for it was a mile long & we thought it would be a waste of money with 2 young children.
