Well done Sky for ruining my football Christmas

Well not mine but that of the supporters of several other clubs. I shall explain.

Firstly why no football matches on Saturday. What's that all about?

Then we have Boxing Day, the day when traditionally the air is full of acrid stale fart smells from the food we have consumed the day before as we go and watch our local football team.

Well sorry fans of Brighton and QPR (12:30 Tue), Derby and Birmingham (3:00pm Tue), Liverpool and Stoke (5:15pm Tue) oh and if you are Southampton or Spurs your Boxing Day teat is now 7:45 Wed.

And then they decide on a full league program for NYE unless you are Leeds of course who get the luxury of a trip to Aston Villa a day early and then there are only a handful of matches on New Years Day (another traditional day) as they are all on the 2nd Jan

Oh and of you are a Liverpool /Man City fan you get a match at 5:15pm on NYE!!!

Fans - second class citizens

Yep, been like that for a while and only getting worse.  TV audiences are clearly more important than match attendees and while The Yankee or Aussie dollar rules English football, well ALL football, then the game's fooked.

Yep, Its almost taken as read now isnt it that TV has ruined it for fans but still we suck it up, subscribe to their shit and swallow the ads.

And the cruel irony for fans of teams in the Chamionship who yearn for their team to be promoted into the Premiership, is that the Premiership relies wholly on money from Sky. So even though fans tub thump and sabre-rattle about Sky/ Murdoch etc, the same fans want the money and success for their clubs which is only available because Sky run football. Fans are walking contradictions. Either put up with it or stop going because it ain't changing EVER!

Happy no stereotyping all footie fans new year!

So these four people were sat round a table with 16 apples in the middle of it. One was a banker, one the Sun Editor, one a British Tradesman and the fourth an immigrant.  The banker quickly takes 15 apples and the Editor of the Sun tells the British tradesman "watch out, that immigrant is after your apple.

And there's just as much of that "changing EVER!"

Shouldnt stop any tub thumping or ratlling of sabres though

But Sky run football. So if fans want success and financial strength in the premier, that financial strength comes from Sky money. The sport has been bought. You are all part of the Sky company family whilst you still put up with their faffing about with the game. Terrace power? What a joke! Just do as you're told and keep on turning up as and when Sky decide the fixtures will be held. And when LU get promoted you'll get that nice financial pat on the head from Murdoch money. "Excuse me Sky, even though we got promoted you can have all this money back. We don't need it to compete in this league", Like fuck! You'll have you're grubby little mits held out for all those Murdoch millions that can buy players just like the fans of other clubs that get promoted.

Nobody is disputing that Sky run football - well at least they own the top flight i.e. the FA run the rest. But the FA are poor relations to Skys money.

And surely the wish of any football fan from any club in the land is a) to win the FA cup* and b) to play in the top flight of football.

* - well maybe not the 'top' 6 clubs (at least the players and staff and not the fans as Europe has taken over there).

exactly, I think Dock is having another argument with someone else!

SKY's hold of the game is no different to any other corporate hold of previously independent entities. Supermarkets, Music, Media, Retail,  etc ,  have all been usurped by one or two big players and other things will follow suite, health care, education for instance. It's the way things are now but if there is no moaning, challenge, tub thumping, call it whatever about it things will get even worse. It's a way of at least checking this insidious  trend. For now not a lot of harm is done (SKY's actual coverage is ace for instance) but once these corporations take full control unchallenged they are free to do what they want in the name of "progress" and shareholders. Adverts during injuries for instance are only a boardroom decision away.

You mean the trainer will run on with his magic sponge wearing an advertising board like those hapless souls outside a Dominoes Pizza shop
