Veritas

At last! The Market Town Tavern Group have opened up a city centre pub. For the last few years I’ve enjoyed drinking in The Town Street Tavern in Hosforth, Coopers in Guiseley, and Arcadia in T’Headingley. And now we have Veritas. Their newest pop shop located on the corner of Portland Street and Oxford Row bang opposite the old frontage of the General Infirmary (the one you walk past on the way to a gig Josephs Well). Done out like the others with all the old art-deco beer ad posters, and as with all their other pubs, the selection of beers and lagers is brill. I opted for Mary Jane by The Ilkley Brewery (a nice session beer), but for those on here who like their lagers, they have the brilliant ‘Hell’ by the Kaltenberg Brewery (a perennial favourite of myself and Polish Dan when venturing to the Tavern in Horsforth, Hic!). A nice after work pub, or somewhere to grab a couple of hours with a pint and a book on an afternoon. The prices are all up on a board ranging from £2.45 through to about £2.70. Not bad considering the average price of a pint in The Vic and Comm or The Scarborough is £2.90. And it’s far enough off the beaten track to not attract any passing dickheads, well, apart from me like. I just walked straight in. That is all!

BB, you are a prince amongst pissheads. The place has only been open for four days and you already know the landlady's name. 10/10

In last night. Thwaites 'Wainwright' and Black Sheep Ale (the sweetish brown label one). Very well kept beers that sloshed down my cakehole very comfortably. That is all.

Ventured in last night. A great stout by Goose Eye Brewery called 'Blackmoor'. That is all.
