Turin

I'll tell you about it when I've less bleedin' work to do.

BTW the shroud isn't even on display but there was a photocopy of it in a kiosk in one of the magnifico squares in the city, so that's me convinced

I've always wanted to see the roof of the Fiat factory where they used to have a race track and filmed The Italian Job. I think.

Really really enjoyed our visit to Turin, a much understated and underrated location close to the foothills of the Alps.  I was genuinely there on 'business' but was always intent on having a good time and meeting people and visiting places to help my research.

In certain respects, even before I got there, I'd decided there are a few similarities between Torino and Leeds and I'm glad to say, I think I wasn't too far off the mark.... it's just a feeling I got, though I would imagine that naturally most Italian towns & cities are better to look at than British ones.  There are so many fantastic arcades and piazzas (and statues), and we had great fun trying to identify locations used in the also very under-rated film The Italian Job (original).

Didn't even have time to visit the Film Museum based in the famous 'Mole' building, or the car museum.  Not the cheapest of places but most of the cost was taxis from the Novotel on the outskirts in to and back from the city centre.  That said, the public transport is very good value too.

Well recommended but keep it quiet

And Juventus FC were a great help - they showed us around the club's museum as well the stadium tour... just a shame that it's a new stadium and not the one in which John Charles played for 5 seasons.  THAT one was originally the Stadio Mussolini, renamed Comunale after WWII... I'm still struggling to get much info on that stadium.

He's always on holiday so the chances are quite high that he has.

Well ask for a report from him then. Mrs Doubtfire

Turin, like i said earlier only ever cycled through it west to the alps amd into France.

I remember in Maradonna's biography he described going to Juve whilst with Napoli. The home fans unveiled a massive banner saying " welcome to Italy, now wash your hands" the inference being that the rich north is real Italy and poor Naples an inferior backwater. A bit like Huddersfield and Leeds.
