Tie a pair of trainers round the old phone lines.

Used to see it lots but just recently it seems to have made a reappearance. A pair of trainers hanging in the middle of the street off a phone wire. Seem to remember some urban myth saying it meant something. Get your drugs here kind of thing. One thing's for sure, they haven't accidentally got embroiled in telephone wire, or have they, in some freak tightrope walking incident perhaps.

Whatever happened to the bike tire at the bottom of a lamp post thing.

Spotted a pair dangling near Sharlston

Remember some up at Ayresome Park, 'boro.

Haha, we had a set of stumps on our old house, I sometimes ride past now  40 odd years later and you can still see them ever so slightly. We must have engraved them on with acid or something

Only thing I ever saw coming out of Ayresome Park was my shoes making my way back to the coaches or train. Fuck me that was a rough place, we couldn't even muster a coach so I went once on the train only to promise myself never again, then a couple of times on the WAs which wasnt as bad but still fecking scary.
Grind

Agreed - Ayresome and Roker were never "fun" days (or, worse still, evenings) out.

Don't see many squashed hedgehogs in the road now.

Either they've become more streetwise or they're all dead.
Grind

They've migrated to the cloud.

Another thing that's gone the way of the Dodo: An old bike tyre around the base of a lamppost.

Heyho

It's amazing how you forget about stuff and it disappears into memories. I was only thinking the other day that the orange glow street lights have bitten the bullet.

There's a group on Facebook that post old photos of Leeds. Some are late 60's and 70's (which I just remember) and you think 'bloody hell I remember that'.

I miss the old style hardware shops where you could buy a single tap washer or a 6mm allen key or an ounce of 6mm by 1.1/2 screws in a paper bag.

Aubuchon Hardware still does that here - I have no idea how they are still in business.

Get fucked! I remember seeing loads of them years ago. And as for you LD, taking the side of a Blow-in part-time Regger like that fecking Bellend from Ponte, well, I think we need to reevaluate your membership. There will be strong letter getting sent to admin. S'all I'm saying.
Dock

Whoops. Just read the thread properly. As you were, nothing to see here.

We had a gas lamp post at the end of our street when I were a lad. True.

Milk bottles on everyone's steps first thing, and the clinking and humming sound the float made

*awaits certain cretins duplicate post*

Ladies posed in girdles in club catalogs you could cut out and keep.

Everyone did that.
