The Making of a Murderer

Caught up with this on Netflix.

The story of Steven Avery, fitted up for assault and rape for which he served 18 years before DNA evidence led to his release.

Within weeks he was re-arrested for murder.

Corruption of authority at it's very worst, these two blokes [his 16 year old nephew is dragged into the mix] and their families have been, and are still, being put through hell.

It's an original Netflix documentary and blummin  fantastic, I could have watched all ten or so episodes in a one'er it is so gripping.

That's all yer get, watch it, took my breath away at times, actually made me angry at others.

You have been told.

The only thing I've stuck with from start to finish for yonks - GRIPPED!

Season 2 on the way - Brendan is set to get his sentence overturned and freed quite soon and his slimy layer struck off.

Brendan's release is subject to the authorities not filing charges again.

I reckon they will, the bastards.

They did.

Y'all should watch The Jinx too, as well as a documentary film about three 'goths' being wrongfully charged for murder ('Paradise Lost').

Good innit, if you pitched it as a film you'd be laughed at.

Think I've seen a film (non documentary) about the goths, Devils Knot?
Frazier Cranium

Could be, I forget, it's a while since I watched it.  Actually, there's 3 films.  It is disturbingly graphic with its showing of photographs from the murders scene.

Yes Devil's Knot was on Film 4 the other night - not a bad watch but no where near as dramatic, shocking, bewildering as the documentaries.  Seriously, up there with Making Of A Murderer as 'essential' viewing.

So it's a documentary? But there is a second series? I'm bewildered. Maybe I just don't get what you are all on about, I got lost at Goths and Devils Knot. And I'm guessing the stuff about a bloke called Brendan is a bit of a spoiler for those of us who haven't seen it?

Second series because it's still ongoing which is hard to believe.

Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

It is a documentary.

There is a second series.

Goths and such is separate prog introduced by Forest and Codge into this thread for no good reason other than they are fine fellows keen to keep us abreast of further televisual delights.

Brendan is the nephew of Steven Avery and involved in the Making of a Murderer.

Watch it.

If he is proven innocent I hope several of the bastards who set him up are imprisoned.

Awaits report.

It was interesting. A sell out so over a thousand people there. As they're not involved in the case any more they had few new insights. Wisconsin law dictates that public defenders can only be appointed once to a case.

Brendan's still banged up but should be released soon, once the law has run its course. A re-trial for Avery is still some way off but new DNA evidence is being assembled, apparently.

Their last involvement was in 2007 and a lot of the Q&A centred on what they have learned about the criminal justice system and what they would have done differently. They are absolutely convinced he is innocent and that the testing of the (planted) blood sample was mishandled (perhaps deliberately). They were frustrated that the prosecution was then allowed to publicly undermine the defence case and that prosecutor Krantz was able to corner the media the way he did.

They seem genuinely committed to campaigning for a fairer justice system for those who can't afford it. Some of the proceeds from this tour is going towards this so the last hour was a more general discussion about the changes they'd like to see so that the Averys of this world can get better access to justice.

Season 2 sometime next year, apparently.
