The Intouchables

2011, French film, recently recommend to me. Surprisingly devoid of any pretense or touchy feelie  nonsense. Story of a wealthy quadriplegic gent and his new aide. Watch the trailer. Perfect night in with the wife/girlfriend or both if you're that lucky, fodder. Crack open a bottle or two of wine and just enjoy fantastic film making.

If you watch it please report back.

Mentioned it before on here, it's a fantastic feel good film but not at all sentimental. It's on sky movies, think I've watched a dozen times. Love it.

Phew! I did a search before posting but nothing came up. I'm not much of a one for subtitled films, I think the last one I watched was The Lives Of Others (that was brilliant too. Maybe I should investigate more?). But, yeah, I watched this one twice in one week. Very rare for me that.

The only bit I didn't get was at the end where, I assume, it's the real people the story is based on, the Driss character looked like a white guy to me. If so I wonder why they'd change that? Minor gripe, great film. Watch it and you can be in Forest and Mine's gang, if you're so inclined.

I watched 'Betty Blue' the other week, not just because of the flesh content but because I'd heard great reviews.  It wasn't that great but I do usually read the reviews before watching subtitled films.  Before most of the posters went in to hibernation, Reg was a great place for recommendations of foreign flicks to watch.

I'm not good at remembering titles but The Baadher Meinhoff film was really good imho, and the one about Carlos the Jackal, plus WW2 film Flame & Citrus

Also a recent Polish one called I think 'In Darkness' about Jews fleeing nazis in a town in Poland, surviving in the sewers. Brilliant film, true story.

I watched it for the first time too when it was on Film4 recently, a mate of mine raved about when it came out (late 80's?). Apart from the very frequent nudity which I enjoyed I can't see what the fuss was about and the ending where the main character dresses as a woman and robs a bank was just daft

A couple of foreign language films I can recommend -
Secret in their Eyes - Argie drama with a twist
Tell No One - French thriller
Frazier Cranium

There's the vampire one too which is class - Let Me In (?) and the Stig Larsson trilogy which is better than the English language remake of course.

And one about family abuse etc, Danish flick called 'Festen' which was very good too, if unpleasant.

Man Bites Dog.  Run Zola Run (or summat).
