Saw this fine band last Thursday at the Brudenell. Last time I saw them there was in 2008 Shaun and Si reminded me it was their first gig at the Brudenell. Blimey time flies seems like only a few years.
The band have had a little break recently but are back with what is seeming like a bit of a so so comeback album. Nonetheless they are worth seeing live if only for the energy and allure of singer Liela Moss
Somehow I managed to get myself right at the front immediately in front of her for most of the set, compete fluke of course but once there and the band came on I thought it rude to move elsewhere.. That said they are much more than her visual and dynamic presence. Ace guitar driven interesting rock that has a little too much sheen and polish to be Garage or grunge but instead carves its own refined creation. Brilliant mood swings, very tight rhythm and a good mix of material.
Here's two. One from the terrific first album and one from the latest
Cut across The Land from the first album
Blue and Yellow Light from Latest Album
Sounds a bit like Courtney Barnett. Not a bad thing.
Enjoyed the first album, probably one of the very few purchases of a new LP at the time that I've made.
