Terrific bloke, who couldnt like him? genuine broadcasting icon, loved his radio2 morning shows that have never been bettered.

His comments on the Eurovision song contest scoring as it came in were what made the show.

Sir Bulldog Craggwood

I used to think him really naff in the Blankety Blank years and how Kenny Everett used to lampoon him and go on about his wig

He was very good at what he did and i suppose came back into fashion and popularity again just by being consistent and measured and non-controversial

Pretty unflappable as a live broadcaster. He was Britain's favourite Irishman when Irishmen weren't too popular in England.

His work pioneering and presenting Children in Need was superb - thats hundreds of millions for good causes that might not have been raised and given out if it hadn't been for Terry

Heyho

He was good at his job but did prattle on a bit. Remember him on the radio as a kid as my mum liked to listen to him.

Of course it is 'that' one incident where he allegedly asked for payment for children in need that sticks in my mind.

Other than that I can't say I had anything against the chap.

Became a fan of his morning show after realising that i was too old for the 'lad' culture of Chris Moyles and his pals.

Always funny in an undemanding way. Which is what you need when you're half awake.

RIP Terry

I've heard about this so called anti Irish sentiment in those days. Maybe I was sheltered from it but I can't remember any of it in our circles.
