Swinsty Reservoir (T'other side of Otley)

Went for a ride into da Dales on Sunday. Stopped here for a walk, really really quiet, and great views over the reservoir (ok, it's not Lake Superior but it's pretty good for ten minutes out Leeds). Great picnic spot on the car park AND you don't have to pay for parking, which is pretty rare these days. We are going to take a picnic next time, and before you ask Sheeps, yes you can go, and yes, I have taken the half full can of Duckhams out of the boot, and yes, I have put a tartan blanket down to keep you comfortable on the next trip out FFS!

I ran round it yesterday, there is also Fewston and Thruscross resevoir nearby.

The Timble Inn near Swinty resevoir is reopening next month I think.

By coincidence, yesterday afternoon Lady O and I had a brisk stroll around Swinsty's neighbour, Fewston reservoir.

They are both equally pleasant and I would recommend either. Both have a well made and signposted path around them, are virtually flat, and at approximately 3 and 4 miles, respectively, not too taxing on a warm afternoon.

Regarding the Timble Inn, oddly enough, we went looking for it yesterday. It's years since I went there, and if it's the building where I thought it was, it appears to be a private residence now, but I could be mistaken. Do you mean the Sun Inn in Norwood? That looked to be shut when I went past a few months ago.

No, definitely the Timble Inn.The fella I was running with lives nearby.

Ran around it my arse, not unless theres a new meaning to running which involves drinking cans of John Smiths, and slurredly swearing at unsuspecting groups of school children who's only goal of the day is to spot a Kingfisher in it's natural habitat.
Plastic Man

Where you "running" too, Mr Dock?
