The NY Giants.

We played them in the 2008 version, having won all our regular and (obviously) post-season play-off games, only to lose in the one that really mattered. Twunts!

Strangely, I've seen the Pants play the Giants twice this season - in a preseason friendly and the "regular" home game.

We lost both of them.

I half thought about going to Indianapolis to the final, but there aren't any tickets I can find that are less than four figures.

Come on you Pants.

I've always reckoned the NY Giants to be the Man U of American football.

That said, in recent times, The Pants are possibly a little Chelsea-esque.

Someone said that the either the Dallas Cowboys or the Washington Redskins (who've hardly shone of late) are close to being at the same level as Man Utd in terms of global draw.

I don't know if they mean fans or revenue, but it sounds like tosh to me.

hmmm

A ball, 50 crash helmets, 4 tons of body armour, 20 cheerleaders, a marching sousaphone band, and a team of orthopaedic surgeons specialising in spinal injuries.

More steroids on the pitch than Fatima Whitbread and Tessa Sanderson took in their entire careers.

Some of them are pretty big homos.

* Heh, heh. *

Big Homo sport.

Rugby Union is the ultimate 'gay' sport.

Where else do men stick their their heads between the heaving sweaty buttocks of other men, and lift each other in the air like monstrous ballerinas
Kevin Khatchadourian

Unlike rugby league where every opportunity (30 seconds max) 2 dive on one and grind about on top for 10 seconds before backing off, adjusting hair and shoulder pads.

It doesn't help that some of them wear pink.
Kevin Khatchadourian

That's a northern thing.

The jury's still out on fudge, but those boys sure like toffee.

* And they run out to that Deliverance banjo tune. *

** Prolly. **

Papa Dock (Wakey not Haiti) is having a bet on NY's player Cruz to score the first touchdown. He is as of yet undecided on the points spread. End of dispatch.

Wes Welker's the man.

Certainly will.

Up until the weekend, I was even trying to blag tickets to go to the thing.

I'm sure the Superbowl will be strung out to between four and four-and-a-half hours because of imposed adverts and the extended halftime bollocks. Possibly more if they go into overtime.

A "normal" game is typically three (if there is a lot of running and caught throwing inbounds) to about four (bad throws/running out of bounds/stopped clock nonsense).

I usually DVR games and fastforward through the adverts and other breaks - games seem to take about ninety minutes to watch.

It's happening tonight innit?

Stupid, stupid game.

Yes, although I did win $48 in the prediction pool.
Kevin Khatchadourian

Not all bad then.

No - and at least I didn't feel the need to hand over bundles of cash to actually go and watch it.

Should be some cheap shirts to buy today too.

I see the Mid West Mothers against Smut have got their knickers in a twist again. This time because MIA flipped the finger on air.

Difficult to understand how the nation that makes 89% of the world's porn can get hung up over something so trivial.

Madonna's halftime show was impressive though I have to say

Apparently it had a lot of the symbolism and ritual of an Illuminati worship rite

She's always been a shy and retiring violet sort, that one.

I was glared at by almost everyone else in the room when I suggested, just a little too loudly, that this was exactly the sort of self-obsessed up-your-own-arse kind of nonsense that alienated the civilised world from American sports.

I only kept my trap shut during the simpering renditions of America the Beautiful and Star Spangled Banner by making a full-on assault on the unguarded beer fridge of the guy holding the party.
grunt

Good view.

Grind

I'd suppressed the memory, but as part of my getting a "regular" season ticket, I went to see the preseason friendly between The Pants and The Eagles at Foxboro on Monday night.

Hardly any first teamers for either side on display (I couldn't even abuse dog-fighter Michael Vick for long as he got injured) and a more dismal outing would have been hard to organise.

Stupid sport.
