Should we get giddy?

I have no expectations but it is good to see our name up there.
Frazier Cranium

Exactly, Mr Sheep.

Just want the scummy owner and his cronies out, let the 'manager' and his personnel do their jobs.

I think Cellino is still in deep poopoo but don't quote me as I know chuff all
carp

Tough month ahead but better be near the top than the bottom.

Issues for me are too many key loan players that need to be signed up
Cellino is a loose cannon all be it a quiet one atm.
Is there money for signings in January to push on?
When will Taylor go and who is the backup? Coyle is injured and young. Berardi can play either side but prone to injury.

Great win at Norwich though.

* Falls over. *
Heyho

Get a point(s) against Newcastle and I think we might be up there for a while.

Liverpool is a distraction though. Get tonked by them and it might have a knock on effect.

I hope no one on here is close to Rob Atkinson who wrote the above 'article', another piece of nonsense in a long series of it from him.
fartcatcher

Been mightily impressed by the flying hippy at right back.
Late Doors

Should we fuck, get back in yer box with yer daft ideas. Tchh, should know better at your age.
fartcatcher

Holy fuck! We might not be as good as Brighton or the Barcodes, but we can make a strong case for being the best of the rest.

We have half a dozen players who are at the top of their game at the moment. And some who aren't (Roofe and Sacko) have improved vastly since the start of the season.
Late Doors

Oh i don't know, we kinda gifted both them teams their first goals. Would have been interesting if we played them level as it were. Its our defence, they are effing awesome and that includes total defending, from Wood back. Loved how we didnt get suckered into Reading's appalling back four possesion game last night. Chuff me i was embarrased for them
Frazier Cranium

Exactly LD, okay we lost 2-0 to NU and BHA but neither team looked that good.  From Reading fans  I'd heard they were 'over achieving' and it certainly looked that way on Tuesday.  Consistency is a major key in this pretty poor division so if we can continue winning our home games and picking up a few points away, we're definite play off contenders without much effort.  You watch, Brentford will turn us over .

Off the field the stability is refreshing and much of it is down to one man not interfering, and now there are strong reports that a takeover is near completion.  I am looking forward to seeing people like Cellino and his scummy sons, Terry George, Umbers, Bates I hope, never darkening our door ever again.
Late Doors

wow, that would be some day if that happens. Something else as well, that was a ballsy descision to take Wood off as a precaution, Mr Monk is starting to impress
Heyho

Might disagree a bit with you OC (nothing new there) regarding Newcastle. A combination of us not really turning up and them looking like an odds on promotion team in my eyes.

But Brighton was different. Ok they had the lions share of the possession up to the sending off/penalty but it was that incident that gifted Brighton with the 3 points. Even with 10 men there was nothing between the two teams.

You could well be right, I think Monk also fielded the wrong 11 v NU - there was no flair or pace in that Leeds side plus it seemed the players were told to sit back and let Newc attack instead of taking the game to them.  We played it like we were the away team.  Notable that since then, against two rated teams (Villa and Reading) that the team is playing a much more pressing game up front.  Anyway, Newc hardly broke sweat in beating us, we def didn't 'turn up' you're right

Should we be getting giddy over these significant additional investment stories? I really cant be arsed trawling the internet for info which may or may not be correct but just wondered what you thought Codge. I really want to get giddy but the reighns in me are doing their job.

I don't claim to be In The Know but I sometimes speak with folk who appear to have strong contacts involved in the business of LU.  This is when I can be arsed to ask pertinent questions of people who know I won't blab.  Thing is LD, I would say that ALL the rumours - those that aren't 'mischievous' or plain daft - have element of truth in.

A takeover is happening and it is, I believe, Radrizzani on his own, he is NOT close mates or neighbours with Cellino so conspiracy theories are a bit wide of the mark I think.  He is proven to be loaded (recently sold his hefty share of MP & Silva) and he has a very good, transparent record in business and football dealings.  Personally I think he will look to 'flip' the club once he has stabilized it.

Various quotes as to the actual deal % have been given but I keep hearing, inc from media blokes, that Cellino needs to sell and that the club is still losing money at an alarming rate.

Anyway, I'll shut up now but one quote from someone who knows Cellino, when I asked a while ago what was happening, why's there a delay with the takeover, they replied 'I think the deal is 50% of the club now and 50% at the end of the season, because Cellino wants the money AND the glory'.
fartcatcher

lots of late goals going in. Sign of a team that's fit and motivated.

Hope all this off field stuff doesn't distract Monk and the boys.

Well it clearly bloomin' isn't, is it?
Late Doors

Cheers codge, was going to wish you a good one yesterday but it all got a bit frantic later on. Heard yesterday MC has already effectively gone.
Frazier Cranium

Really?  Who did you hear from, may I ask?

People who defend him say he's doing a great job now, the league table is the proof.  It's not something you can really argue against unless you have the proof that he is nowhere near the squad etc to interfere

I missed the goal by the way, had a gig to attend which I think Heyho has written aboot on here.  Mate texted me before the final whistle to say we were 2-0 down
sheeps

Although not a regular attender I do enjoy seeing us at the sharp end of the table.

The key, as we all know is keeping hold of GM.

And I think that may prove difficult.
Late Doors

Not been a bad month has it? Monk was making all the right noises on Radio Leeds post match yesterday about players staying.
Frazier Cranium

Definitely approaching giddiness here
Heyho

But remember 'we are 'Leeds'.

Cautiously optimistic is the best we should be for a top 6 position.

Pretty average league and a tight one at that. Can't see Reading or the Dog Botheres sustaining there run to be honest. Wednesday might though. Brighton are also know to slip up towards the end of the season so the top two slots aren't a nailed on cert. History shows there will be at least one late challenger moving up the table that gathers momentum when it matters. Derby, Norwich, Villa, Birmingham are nicely poised for a new year run in.

Nobody said it would be easy
Late Doors

Quite a significant day yesterday no? All feels a bit too good to be true
fartcatcher

Any significance in the 50/50 split? Is that better or worse than having a majority shareholder? Maybe just a transitionary state before Cellino goes altogether.
Frazier Cranium

I could tell you what I think and I could tell you what certain possible ITKers believe is happening, but in the end no one seems to know for certain the finer detail of this arrangement.

Definitely some bullshitters going around trying to claim everything is good at the club DUE to Cellino rather than in spite of him.  There are also some Cellinoites trying to disparage Radrizzani as a businessman and his intentions.

I said yonks ago folks that I was told that it would be 50% of the club 'now' and 50% at the end of the season.  Was also warned that Cellino was being a pain in the negotiative arse simply because he wants to leave 'on his terms' ie look like a smart, heroic and decent man.

Not left a Leeds game so happy for a very very long time. That was immense on Friday. That said we could have lost the fecker 2-1 if it wasnt for two outstanding pieces of keeping

We dominated the first half, almost men against boys, but only just scraped a lead and you thought 'hmmmmmm we should have made more of our dominance'.

Credit to Derby (and especially McClaren)  as the tactical change at half time and the introduction of the two subs almost changed the game fully round. For the first 10-15 minutes of the 2nd half it was like roles reversed from the 1st half.

But then Leeds adjusted which I was most impressed about and for the last 30 minutes we negated Derbys pressure so that most the football was in med field. Yes a couple of typical Leeds scares and some excellent goalkeeping.

But I wouldn't be a Leeds fan and get that little sickly feeling in my stomach as I wonder 'can we maintain this run or is something going to ruin it'.

At the moment though this team are playing football as good  as we have seen from a Leeds team for a long time. Even better than Graysons promotion team I think!
Grind

There was one outstandingly crap bit of goalkeeping too, which we also got away with.

I'm also impressed by the standard and style of our football, you can't expect to have the whole 90 minutes of any game, important thing is riding out the storm.

Well done The Monk.

Was there? cant remember that, when so G ?
Frazier Cranium

Silvestri's still worse, whatever 'crap bit' he's referring to

If it's the kick which Bent hand-balled then I'd dispute it but anyway, FFS DON'T PASS BACK TO THE KEEPER!
Late Doors

Ahh right, that yes. I too thought at the time it was a dodgy back pass. Like every other keeper he makes a few errors but he is also key to our playing out from the back style. The back four never hesitate to give it him and all are ready for a short pass back. I like it

If you look at how Banks, Shilton, Harvey et al used to keep the game has changed out of all recognition. Back passing to the keeper was practically un heard of then but the biggest annoyance to me in todays games is this palm away style. Shot comes rifling at them and instead of catching the ball (which in many circumstances is an option) it is now the done thing to try and palm it away into a safe zone hoping a defender is there to clear. Same on crosses. It's safer to be a keeper now than it's ever been, a sneeze near them and its a foul, but the insistence to fist a ball away rather than catch it annoys me.

Continental football? We used to have a monopoly on the worlds best keepers
Late Doors

Jasus H fecking christonabike. All so chuffing predictable isn't it but yet it still churns you into pieces. I'm just glad I'm in my fifties because if this was twenty five years ago my life would have gone into meltdown
fartcatcher

Let's hope we can hang on to the defence. Need at least two decent midfielders and proper support for Wood. Maybe a big rough bastard like Becchio.

Not really looking forward to the Norwich game now.

Christ I'd forgotten him. Is he knackered. He would have been an ideal partner for Wood (not that we play 4-4-2

Not Becchio.
Late Doors

Hell no. Keep our core, maybe one of the wide players and yep we need a harder, more creative midfield. Cant see monk going 442 like. Haven't we just appointed a well rated director of football? Sounds a promising start to next season
Grind

It was just over-active earwax.

Bugger.

I meant like Becchio - not the actual one. I suspect he's running a bar in Spain now. Was never the same after he left ER.

Agree about O'Kane. Looks like a decent fetch and carry man.
