Shabbat

I recently saw the Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis being interviewed on one of those crappy Sunday morning current affairs programmes and felt inspired by what he was saying about taking time in your life for reflection especially in the digital age. Obviously his particular faith honours the Sabbath or Shabbat (I know all the Hebrew me) but many of us donít go a day (or for some one hour) without handling a mobile or logging on to the internet to read, what in the final analysis, is 90% instantly forgettable meaningless shit. I think a set day without the internet or using a mobile would be good for the soul. Iím going to start this Sunday.

Must admit to agreeing with all of that.

Small steps (geddit?), but I now make a point of walking the dogs without headphones/earbuds and, though my 20th Century flip-phone phone is usually with me, it isn't turned on and I only carry it on the offchance I get dragged off by a randy black bear and need to take selfies.

I think 90% is a severe underestimate.

Does that mean we are gonna have to get the old mags out once a week ?

Is there a background possibility of you being dragged off by randy black bears in your neighborhood (sic)?  (Any images may be of interest to a "special interest" website).

Apparently I'm not their type, although they have tried to shag one of the neighbours' birdfeeder a couple of times with hilarious seed-spilling results.

What definition of "bear" are you referring to?
Dalek

I presume you mean Ursus americanus, not that used by certain sub-cultures!
Grind

Arses Americanus are huge over here.

I've only seen one bear in the wild here thus far (it was in Yosemite, so I think I'm safe), but there is supposedly at least one wandering the neighbourhood at night.

Someone thought they saw a timberwolf recently too, but it was probably a labradoodle on steroids.
