Have the site settings been changed? Since yesterday, the right hand margin is off the screen and I now typically have to scroll the page across if a post is longer than one line.

No, you've probably been pissing about with your screen resolutions.

Right-click on the desktop and then left click on Properties from the menu that appears.

Display properties dialogue box will appear, click on the settings tab at the top right of the box.

Tell me what it says.

I presume you have made some adjustments centrally. This thread and several others display correctly now. However, for example, the right margin for the Tent thread is still off screen. This does sometime happen if large photos are posted up.

For information, for business I use a standard monitor in tandem with a laptop monitor to provide dual display. The screen resolution for both is 1024x768.

However, I was encountering exactly the same problem independently at home with my personal PC.

I'm not sure on what basis you have come to the conclusion that "you've probably been pissing about with your screen resolutions". Which, to be frank, does come across as rather condescending and insulting.

Should I try and get one of those thermal printers off eBay for my ZX81 for backing up purposes?

Not touched owt this end, perhaps they've been pissing about at MYFF.  Anyway I'm on the IT help desk, it's my job to be condescending!

I have a feeling when they swapped servers recently they fucked it up a bit. In the admin panel it tells you the database size, that has shrunk by 20+MB

Yes I've been told by the admin at MYFF that the search system had been altered server wide, it's possible that ours failed

He's hoping that it should sort itself out over the next month........

......possibly.

I don't understand how it will work in a month if it does not work now.

They have mugged us off with that answer.

I'm guessing that it will maybe take that long for the search function to build up a new database for everything.

It does seem to be doing something as we've now got 9 days worth of search rather than the two that Pers Mate suggested.

That'll be because the search function probably started again from 9 days ago. It was 2 days old when PP posted. This suggests that any search for something before that date will be fruitless. FRUITLESS!

Great point well made.

Pond Life

It is actually getting worse, it seems it will only search posts a month old.

I have asked them to look again.
bearing

It works fine for me, I've searched back to last September.
Pond Life

52 threads that contain the word Leeds

2 threads that contain the word Guitar.

Cant be right.
bearing

Might seem a daft thought, but it may be doing every word it comes to.

Let's check guitar tomorrow and see if there's any more than two then.
Pond Life

yes. good thinking.
bearing

See how many guitar search results there are now!
Pond Life

That is better

601 for Leeds
