oh he meant to do it... you can tell by the body shape. he was lucky he timed it right, otherwise he would have ended up on his ass.

when you see the whole passage of play, about 30 seconds earlier, he makes a first touch with back to goal that a schoolboy would have been ashamed off. it then fell to Berbatov, who fed Scholes, who fed Nani for the cross
Tank Girl

i was kidding
Dock

Saw it on MOTD, fan-bloody-tastic! From every camera angle it was perfect. Not wanting to put a cynical slant on it, but on the money he gets paid he should be getting three of those every game.

Well Done W.R.

I can't see anybody posing a threat to Man U in the league this season.

Not biting.

Ok then wisenheimers, who is going to win the Prem this season if they don't? My statement was from an objective viewpoint. I couldn't care less if MU win it or not, I was just stating an opinion.
lolwarlol

I wouldn't want to play them any time soon.

It's probably a good move, given that Mr Lebowski might be a bit tetchy following HM Revenue and Customs' recent interest in his holiday and possibly the content of his bowels.

I was more shocked by your jizzing over Rooney.
lolwarlol

If Rooney left Man Utd and said he wanted to see out his playing days at Leeds for no money, just because he loved them, you'd be queuing up for Rooney tattoos.
bearing

Until that day, he is one of them though
Tank Girl

make sure he's defo coming first though

lolwarlol

A fucking fantastic one of them when he plays like that, he'll not be a shit one of them.
grunt

Snoddy's goal was better.
lolwarlol

Wait till you see the 8 or 9 we stick past chelsea tomorrow.

Positive thinking brings its own rewards, FACT!
smiling badger

Theres positive thinking and dreaming.
Late Doors

Saw this in the hotel bar Saturday night. Although every goal they ever score makes me physically sick i actually blurted out “effing ‘ell” when that one went in. It was football poetry but alas it will get the full on treatment now forever and for that i am going with the "lucky" theory

Ten a penny.

Maybe not but an overhead kick is still just a n overhead kick. Give me a team buildup or a mazy run any day.
Plastic Man

An instinctive strike which required athleticism and talent, but also a touch of luck to go in.

In the "spectacular" stakes, I don't think it is as good as that "scorpion kick" save by the Colombian goalkeeper against England which required a higher degree of athleticism and confidence to pull off.

It's forgiveable for a striker to miss a hard chance when showing a bit of flair, but unforgiveable for a goalkeeper to give away a goal if he's showing off.

Not wishing to express any bias but I enjoy watching a goal like Snoddy's to Rooney's any day. Skill and craft with a very clever disguised finnish.

Yup, agree totally. Snoddy's goal was bliss.

And he doesn't play for Man United, which is just a teeny bit key.

You should come along to watch me play 7 a side. Most of my goals are disguised as crosses.

He wouldn't have done it if he'd had to wash his own shirt.
lolwarlol

Frankly comparing this to other goals is nuts. Unless they are overhead kicks as well. To say luck is to not do it justice. A lucky goal is when the cross comes in and it bounces of the players arse and goes in. He fucking meant this thing to go in. Like any goal there is a little luck involved, Snoddy's for example had the same amount of luck, that is, it is lucky that the keeper wasn't more agile at that point to save it.

I cant help feeling that if the goals were reversed and Snoddy had scored the overhead kick, this forum would be screaming about how it was the goal of the century.

Oh we would! But the rest of the country would be studiously ignoring it (possibly)

Eddie Gray scored that.

Or even....

grunt

Yeah but mine starts in a specific place that shows yet another goal that's much better than Rooney's.
Grind

They're all better than Rooney's, even if they are German.

Grind

Ah, I see what you did now. Soz.

No probs. I think though that we've provided more than enough evidence that Rooney's goal was, at best, shit.
Grind

Yes we have. At best.
bearing

If there had been any doubts about the shitness of Rooney's goal then this should settle it once and for all.

grunt

Not happy with scoring shit goals, Rooney is now brutally assaulting players and getting away with it.

Grind

I'd've been a lot more bothered by that had I not put him in my fantasy team this weekend.

* Looks up points for unpunished elbow. *
bearing

I'm backing the paper that suggests we electrocute Rooney.
Grind

Didn't Wayne Kerr invent the concept of virtual earth?

* Sniggers. *
Dock

Rooney getting away with that is unbelievable. He should have got a five match ban. Worse case of Man. U bias I have seen. And I've seen a few.
Sir Bulldog Craggwood

you cant persecute him for that - he's the white Pele, the natural heir to Law, Best and Charlton, the new Busby Babe. He's had a tough year with whores and gambling and his wife not leaving him and his baby not being kidnapped or photographed or something and he deserved that payrise for his erm... loyalty and if you ban him i wouldnt blame him and Sir Alex never giving an interview again/retiring/going to manage/play for Bahrain

so there

- its Fergie's retirement year and if anyone tries to stop him overtaking Liverpool's title record he'll kill the racehorses, through the stallions spunk away, never talk to the BBC again, burn the nation to the ground
lolwarlol

Well in his defence he is not the only player in the games history to commit such an act or indeed get away with it. I think it is the governing body that should earn more wrath for this than him. Of course i do not condone what he has done but it appears the F.A do.
