Genuinely saddened, like something part of me has gone. Highly unusual for a celeb. RIP You funny funny man
Sir Bulldog Craggwood
BBC news site has a very poor compilation of his 'greatest hits' the lazy bastards
Here's a tribute montage to the tune of 'The Young Ones'
Kevin Turvey, Rick with a silent 'P', Flashheart, Ace Rimmer, Alan B'Staad.
Not a bad CV
Staggeringly funny, seemingly uncomplicated and driven solely by a desire to make people laugh.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Ace Rimmer? That was Red Dwarf wasn't it?
Anyway this is awful news.
Oh well. Shit happens.
He had a biff on the head about 15 years ago after he rode a quad bike into a wall. Was in a coma for a while. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a connection between that and his sudden demise.
I forgot about 'Bad News'
Heard a good quote from Mark Steele i think, something along the lines of to get Rik you had to have gone through the previous 40 years. Thought that was brilliant class and fitting.
*Rik knocks on locked door loudly* “Vivian, I know you’re in there. In my bedroom preparing one of your DESPERATLEY adult practical jokes”
I was watching the Rick Mayall Tribute weekend on UK Gold and enjoyed some of the old The Young Ones stuff. It took me back to watching it when I was a feral and the next day re-enacting all the lines with school mates. My personal favourite material was in Bottom. He was like a living caricature in it. Great scripts, timing, and jokes. Even the opening titles to Bottom has me pissing myself laughing, just his face when he looks disapprovingly at Eddie at the other end of the bench. Loved RM and everything he was ever in. Thanks for making me laugh............a lot! R.I.P.
Too right, nobody has made me laugh as much as he did that night seeing him live in Halifax. The Bottom live shows were ace as well
Rik Mayall - Lord of Misrule
On last night and on Iplayer in case you missed it.
Some very funny early clips I'd never seen before - or possible seen when pissed and forgotten.
Forgotten how funny Kevin Turvey was, blimey he was a funny bloke.
The Rick Mayall tribute over the xmas period was fantastic. Made you realise how funny that the fella really was. Was certainly one of if not the funniest from my generation of funny guys.
My 17 year old son really digs him too.
