Richard RussoReading Empire Falls again. Small town America, set in Maine in one of those run down once thriving places, ex saw mill, ex mill type places, it's excellent. HBO made a good go of it but, you know, the book's better.
Nobody's Fool was a real belter, set upstate NY, now as good as the book was, the film was better. If you haven't read it or seen it maybe read it first.
Russo, for me is up there with the Franzen and Chabon when it comes to great American writers of our time.
I'll be tracking down his other books soon.
