Number 9 Bus To UtopiaAs I've mentioned before, I'm a big fan on the Caught By The River website. I've read a few books that have been recommended on there and, in the main, enjoyed them. Philip Connors Fire Season probably been the best, with maybe H Is For Hawk coming in second. The other week there was a bit of a write up for The Number 9 Bus. It sounded pretty interesting so I bought it, I read it over two nights and while it has it's moments it fails to really deliver. For one thing the author gives the impression he's off to live in some communities that have opted out as it were when in reality it becomes apparent that he only really books odd and unusual holidays.
That said, it's not a bad book and it does provide some laughs and makes some interesting insights into human nature.
Anyway, here's the author David Branwell, who seems an interesting, smart and somewhat disarming guy giving a talk that essentially distills the book so well you could blag that you'd read it after watching it.
Worth 20 minutes of anyone's time.
