Nice Plaice

Hastings has a beach launched fishing fleet. They are of course threatened by quotas even though they have the highest available sustainability rating.

Anyhow, around the back of the stade (a Saxon word roughly translating to landing place) there are little sheds where you can buy fish. It comes straight of the boats and is gutted and laid on ice. Some goes to the market. Some is sold from the sheds. So far we have had lemon sole and plaice. Both times lightly  fried in seasoned butter. ..sprinkled with fresh parsley and served with new potatoes and spinach. A lovely tea that is ready in the time it takes to boil a few spuds.
Heyho

What a wonderful fish are sole.

Loving it. Building work starts on Monday. Moving catering stuff into a unit Thursday so back to reality. Dog loves it on the beach. In fact he thinks it is his beach and taken to growling at trespassing dogs.
