We will win all of our games.
Champagne not on ice.

If the whites in May
Finish below Yeovil Town -
Will mean we are down.

We've not got the hang of this - but maybe there is a new form emerging - a regional variation.  Maybe it can be called ayku?

Three lines, no wasted syllables, with a word of acerbicity.  Too bad the telegram is about to be consigned to history. An opportunity missed?

I have Googled this (can't do wi educated twonks) and I'm still no wiser other than it's poetry.

The essence of haiku is "cutting" (kiru).[1] This is often represented by the juxtaposition of two images or ideas and a kireji ("cutting word") between them,[2] a kind of verbal punctuation mark which signals the moment of separation and colours the manner in which the juxtaposed elements are related.

I shall be touring local hostelries this weekend checking lavs for local examples.

To be fair, the haiku only really works in Japanese as our syllables don't relate well to their morae 'on'.  We kind of fudge to fit.
