Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens - Cold World

My album of the year so far. This was released in the U.S. two years ago but following on from a review of it I read in Mojo a couple of months ago I purchased this long player. Released on the classy Daptone Records label this is a fucking belter! Best soul record I have heard in ages. Especially the title track. End of dispatch.

It had a bit of nostalgic look about it. It took me back to my youth - it was the sort of album cover that one would espy nefarious characters at parties rolling their reefers of wacky baccy on.

Well whatdya know, I have a track of hers on my I tunes. From a Mojo freebie of Stones covers by various artists. She does a version of You Gotta Move and pretty damm fine it is too. Was talking to Si who's a massive soul fan about her. He bought at least one CD there and then on the strength of your  praise
