Muscle Shoals: The Greatest Recording Studio in the World

BBC4 Tonight 21.00. Documentary film about the brilliant recording studio in the Deep South alongside the Tennessee river. Not just famous for the music but also for political race boundaries it bravely crossed." Small town, big music" was its motto and it produced some all time greats. Aretha Franklin right up to the Black Keys.  Only downside by the sound of it is that ubiquitous gobshite Bono seems to have wormed his way into the film somehow

First hour was good but went off the boil a bit after that.

No idea wtf they wheeled Bono out for.

Yeah, got a bit disjointed and fragmented. Like a big visual Uncut/Mojo article without the cohesion. Still enjoyed it a lot but maybe one for the dedicated. I know its what the biz was all about but i get a sneering feeling when i hear studio bosses talking about "Hit singles". I know thats what they are there for but id like a bit more respect and kudos put on the art, impact, influence and just shear brilliance of the music and the permanent legacy it has.

If you haven't already, listen to Area Code 615. Another of those unsung house bands of the 60s/70s, but based in Nashville.

They did the theme tune for Old Grey Whistle Test. i think.

Stone Fox Chase wasn't it?

It was Stone Fox Chase. I used to love the Old Grey with 'Whispering' Bob Harris.
