Mobile Library

Following on from everyone's enthusiasm for Bed David Whitehouse's latest is a worthy follow up. I reckon if you haven't read Bed Mobile Library is a better place to start. It's dark in parts, a love letter to family (however dysfunctional) and also to the power of books to take us places. It's sort of a Danny The Champion Of The World for grown ups.

Try it, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Inevitable that it will be made into a film. You'll be able to say, 'The book was better.'

Like all films that are based on books. Books are far better.

Wonder Boys and The Prestige both spring to mind as films that are better than the books. But they are exceptions, it's true.

The filmed versions of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Godfather were more impressive than the books. High Fidelity by Nick Hornby was a better film than a book as well if you ask me.......I know you won't.
