Liverpool v Leeds

as much as I never get too carried away with Leeds (and also remembering the 'win ugly' we had at Rotherham only 3 days earlier) I do think there were a fair few positives to come out of last nights defeat.

Ok so we were playing a relatively second string Liverpool team and there were times when their pace and class shone through but there was also times when we used that positive fight for everything approach and out muscled and out fought Liverpool. Why didn't we do that against Newcastle.

Of course our biggest issue, and one that may come back to bite us hard, is that inability to score and our reliance on someone that isn't really a natural goal scorer. That midfield needs to be chalking up a lot of goals collectively but despite best endeavours most get nose bleeds in the penalty area.

What would be in my letter to Santa. 'Dear Santa please can you get LUFC James Milner in the transfer window. Ok it is not going to happen but god if it did. Oh and also a proven goal scorer as well. Jermaine Defoe free? Nahhhh. I can dream.

Yep, last time we where in this position lovely Ken didnt give Grayson the transfer boost we needed in January. A couple of decent additions (even from the Charley money, the full back not the board's recreational fund) and the play offs at least look possible

70 minutes, very impressed. Take a lot of positives from that performance. Read today our team was actually younger than theirs by a few months. There's a reason those kids are at Liverpool and not Leeds. If we played like that every game we'll be doing fine. This season is turning out miles better than the first few games or indeed the off season, suggested it would. I'm not sure I'm warming to Monk but he's doing well so far. Glass half full type of sketch.

Liverpool fans I watched the second half with weren't relaxed until they scored that second.

Watched the highlights last night.

Well done Leeds, there does seem to be a synergy betwixt team and manager.

And hopefully nothing to do with child sex abuse allegations

Another innapropriate laugh We do seem to still be able to bring talented kids through. Then sell them

We've said this before about Leeds haven't we. Now a net exported of talented youth players rather than bring them though the system.

Now whatever happened to all those kids that Uncle Ken shipped off to Chelsea

Was a bit concerned when I heard Janson didn't play because he had a swollen gland in his throat.

Best back four I've seen at ER for a long time. I think Green's better than Silvestri but still error prone. Hard to find good goalies at this level.

Could've been worse - it might have been a swollen glans in his throat.

Which definitely would've made it hard to play.

* Heh, heh. *

Can't beat a knob joke.

Or Liverpool.

Agree about keepers. I'd start Green purely because I'd never play Silvestri again. I've seen some fans taking nothing from this game. Maybe I don't understand football?
