League Cup

A Swansea v Bradford City final would go some way to restoring my faith in football.

I was thinking after the Bradford result the other night that i can never see it happening again that rise up the leagues like Wimbledon managed al those years ago.

Football is now split into:

The 'money' top floor
The aspiring few who will never make it
The habitiual mid tablers who hog the top flight and bring the standards down
The annual uppers and downers
The rest!!!!

Taking the coming from non league aspect aside the recent history of the PL has numerious examples of teams progressing from the lower divsions, Burnley (who nearly went out the league), Hull and Blackpool who like you said became "up and downers", the likes of Norwich and Southampton who went from L1 to PL and the best most recent example Swansea City from near liquidation to Europe in 6 years!.

Keep your eye on Brighton, MK Dons and Bournemouth, all three will be PL soon and at least two of them will stick.

I believe the seperation of the PL from the other 3 divisons is wrong, always have, but it isn't the PL that causes the "money top floor" to exist, its the CL riches that do that.

I'm still awaiting the European League one day and Sky taking it's millions with it to that. Then English football will have to reinvent itself. All those remaining PL clubs desperate for the support of the lower leagues whilst surviving on the pennies that the likes of the ITV Live match will bring.

I will eat my hat if Bournemouth are PL 'soon' and MK Dons will be a big surprise too to me if they make it that far.  Brighton I believe are a long way off there yet too.  Anyway, it's just predictions, I like reading others'.  I'll just feel a lot happier in myself when I'm spending a few hundred precious quid on a season ticket to watch a team I'm proud of, representing a club which isn't insulting the supporters and isn't ripping them off, lying to them or treating them with disdain  I'm genuinely thinking that time will arrive before Bournemouth are in the top 6
