Beyond fucking belief. I know I bang on about how shit I think football has gone in this country, and I make no apologies for it. But this comment from one of the money men at Liverpool sums it up for me. Fuck foreign players, grow some talent over here. Fuck the "potential" foreign markets.

Spot on D.

Everton signed a Chinese player when they teamed up with Chung the beer company. Far too many average imports in our game, give the young un's a chance. It would be interesting to know how many English players Fabio has to choose from in the PL.

Next.

34% of the premiership football league is English. Goalkeeper: 5, Defender: 12, Midfielder: 14, Strikers: 10. 41 English players in total.

Can you get the same stats for a successful international side like Spain Fin?

Next.

In La Liga there are 77.1 per cent Spanish players, 16.7 per cent [other] European and 6.7 per cent non-European

Interesting. And in a recent squad of 19 players, 16 played in La Liga and 3 in the EPL.

Those number don't seem to tally up.

If there are 20 teams in the premiership, and each comprised only 11 players, that's 220 players. (Obviously there will be a lot more, allowing for squad members).

So even if there were only 220 players in total, 41 players would be less than 20%.

Yes they figures do look wrong PM been on a few websites checking,it does seem to be between 35% and 40% English players in the Premiership. It is certainly a lot more than 41 players around the 200 mark.

I was scratching my head too.

At the beginning of the 2009-10 season 595 players were employed by the Premier League's clubs made up of players from 68 countries.

Of those 595, only 248 were English, that works out around 41% I'm guessing it hasn't changed an awful lot since.

When the Premier league begin there were only 12 foreign players registered from all 22 clubs!

Thomas Brolin? Remember when Fotherby was absolutely desperate for Wilko to buy a foreign player, We tried and failed for that big German center forward whose name I cannot remember. The next thing we had this overweight blonde pop tart who had one good game in his life for Sweden against England and built a career on it. Iím absolutely convinced Wilko had nothing to do with the signing and it was bungling Bills idea. Similar principle to the thread I think.
