That's what Mrs Grind will ask.

Shirts from that era (basically anything prior to about 1987?) aren't cheap simply because there weren't many of them made (unlike today, where players can sometimes get four shirts per game) and they were rounded up by the kit man to be laundered and reused for multiple games.

I usually justify my shirt purchases based on how much I've received from refereeing indoor games - which I only really do to keep fit and to avoid watching the idiot box.

This shirt cost forty hours?. †
Grind

I've had a bit of a retro-shirt round-up of late.

I also did some horse-trading to get this Ian Snodin number......

Grind

What the feck am I going to do with them you ask?

* Can't think of sensible reply. *
Grind

To be fair, I don't get paid much to referee.....

Why does anyone colect anything?  Free country innit?

I was offered £400 recently for a LU training top from 74/5.  I'm not selling but it's rare cos it has the player's name on the back.  He gave it to my Dad who then passed it on to me.  I've told the guy who offered that price that if I ever sell then he can have it, but don't hold your breath.  He seems a good lad, you'll probably know him or know of him, Grind, he's got tons of brilliant LU shirts etc.

Regardless of the player, that sounds a bit on the cheap side. I'd keep it.

I AM.

It was Frank.  It was the guy's first offer, he's not even seen or touched it

Keep it that way.

Strangely, there are a fair number of interesting shirts floating around at the moment (I know of at least two "serious" collectors who seem to be selling because of unspecified financial reasons) so I guess bargains are there to be had. *

* Assuming you're into buying other people's clothes.

Never assume, you will only end upmaking an ass of an emu.  Or something.
