It's Starting (MCR)

This week we've seen the Craven Stakes at Newmarket, and today we have a great meetng at Newbury. Both of the latter are warm ups for the big group one flat meetings starting with the Guineas meeting in May. Some of the winners today will be benchmarked for a Guineas win. Four races will be televised on CH4. Ace!

Exciting isn't it? I said isn, OH FORGET IT!

Scottish National meeting today at Ayr for any jump fans. But for me, Newbury will be where it's at.

I feel sorry for those poor guys who have to shove the horses up the arse to get them into the stalls. I hope they're well paid.

What is MCR anyway?

Morning FC, it stands for May Contain Racing. I've started putting it on any of my racing threads, after receiving significant beatings from other reggers for wasting their time opening threads that they couldn't be in the least bit arsed about.

The lads who shove the horses into the stalls are a bunch of hardy buggers. Ex-jockeys and stable lads. Don't think the money will be that much. For them, it's a lot less dangerous than it looks to us spectators.

Dock, you'd not mentioned the sad passing of Greville Starkey in any of your posts.

he had a face like a sad ferret. In fact a lot of flat race jockeys look like sad ferrets.

A great jockey, but his best efforts were way before my time T'B. I've been too busy getting my knickers in a twist watching Newmarket this week.

R.I.P. GS.

That is one of the truths of life. Either a tracksuit or one of those long bench coats that were popular around the time of Dalglish's management stint at LFC. The look is usually topped off with a scraggy Tescos carrier bag hooked over the crook of their arm in a Coleen Rooney/Victoria Beckham stylee.

I had a blinder of a day with Newbury. I backed Jimmy Fortune on Colonel Carter to win at 14-1 in the first race, and then Jim Crowley to win on the crappily named 'Puff', at 7-1. Ace!
