IKEA

D1 indicated that she and her partner had their first ever real row yesterday. They were starting to assemble their new Karlstadt. She wanted to read the instructions and he just wanted to get stuck in.

How many relationships have been damaged by these evil purveyors of Scandinavian chipboard?

Pleased to say they have sorted out their differences.

In our house we have a winning formula. I lay out all the bits of flat pack, read the instructions and then assemble it whilst Mrs. D keeps young Dock occupied in another room away from the small screws and faffy bits. I always follow the instructions. Never understood why people will spend a few quid on something and not adhere to the assembly guidelines. Seems stupid if you ask me...............I know you won't.

I like their breakfasts - the furniture is pap.

Furniture is OK but I wouldn't recommend moving it too much once in place, not the sturdiest of fixings.

Don't enjoy the shopping experience at IKEA either.

Some of their shelving units are excellent, fuck all the negative hype about Ikea!  They put British furniture retailers to shame!!

As if I have a clue about British furniture retailers

Ikea's meatballs are highly recommended too.  I have been to Ikea maybe 5 times in my life and I have to say... I like the place.

The shame, the shame.
Dalek

I have never stepped inside any IKEA store.

Cos you have wheels and cannot walk!

I agree with your comment about the negative hype. We have a solid dining table from there and Mrs. D's wardrobe is also a good un'.

'Cos some folk can assemble the unit a lot quicker by eye rather than faffing about with a step by step guide.  The only thing I use the guide for is to check I've got all the stuff I should have.

Instructions? Like putting your balls in a jar.

Not really, but if that's your bag for, errrr, your bag, I'm not going to stop you.

* Unless it's in my Marmite jar - the last thing we need is a spreading yeast infection.

Your Missus - Love it or Hate it? ( sos - couldn't resist it)!

Surprisingly, she's a bit a fan of the stuff.

It's damn expensive here, so I need to keep an eye on her pot to make sure she's scraped all the way to the bottom.
