Ian McLagan - Dead

One of my all-time pop heroes. Without him the sound of The Small Faces and The Faces wouldn’t have been what is was. Be it the intro to SF’s Tin Soldier or ‘Flying’ by The Faces. Could go on and on but will leave that to obit writers. A total fucking geezer! Itchycoo Park will be ringing out across the rooftops of the houses in my little corner of North Leeds tonight.

Hammond Organ genius. Used to love that sound - him, Steve Winwood, Matthew Fisher of Procol Harum.

not so many about now. Probably because they're so fucking heavy.

A man unspoilt by fame.

RIP Ian.

This is a really good piece, and a fascinating insight into the life of a working musician - http://louderthanwar.com/ian-mclagan-a-personal-and-moving-obituary/
