Heyho

I. Daniel Blake

A film you have got to watch.

And listen Ken Loach, just spend your time making powerful films like this rather than boring the fucking pants off a wider audience at awards ceremonies with your political speeches to a captive audience.

Back to the film. It hits the nail on the head regards the benefits system of this country. The film is dark, very dark, but also very witty. It is about a chap who has to go on the benefits system because he has had a heart attack and his doctor has said he is not fit for work. But the benefits system says that is not acceptable and he must make an effort to get a job. Which he wants to do badly and he enters into a spiral moving downwards fast.

Great acting. You want to hit one or two of the DHSS staff because you know that is how they are like in real life. Patronising, led by a rule book.

Get it watched

He's ace is Ken Loach and he can make as many speeches as he likes for me

(I didn't watch the Baftas but anything that gets the Daily Malice 'journalists' and its readers' piss boiling is all well and good for me)

((I read the Malice too, it's a great comic and the sudokus and Scrabble are good ))

Reaches for his imagination medication so he doesn't get wound up.

What Loach fails to mention is that a succession of governments has failed to get to the real reason the Daniel Blakes of this world get let down by the system - because of the prevelance of people abusing the system that has fucked the Daniel Blakes of this world up big time

You have an imagination medication?  Excellent

If he'd made a film about all the people abusing the system then it would have been sponsored by people like the Mail  I don't see Loach as part of the problem TBH and I suspect he's not as biased or blinkered as the critics accuse.  For instance, I watched Hidden Agenda not too long back and that's about the IRA etc and the governments involved.  No one comes out of it with any real sympathy except probably just the reporters, one of whom is murdered just doing his job.  Great cast too.

I know most of the film world, TV and Arts in general maybe, are very much up their own behinds and very false but I'd rather hear a sincere speech from someone than the usual platitudes and fakeness which most award winners spout.  I do agree though that the good-intended luvvies can be a pain in the arse as well.
Heyho

Loach came across has some twattish left winger with a chip on his shoulder over the colour of the current government.

Luckily his films do not and instead graphically portray a Dickensian system that we have today and that the vast majority of decent folk get fucked over for because of a minority. And this is all down to a succession of governments fucking around with a system and bringing in over paid management that believe what is written in a fucking text book is far better than experience.
