I think Ed Sheeran is fucking rubbish!

I don't get it. What's the fuss? Is he just a darling of the corporate music industry? Why does he get so much promotion and spotlight. I think his songs are mediocre at best and I wouldn't leave the fucking house if I looked like that. I wonder if the excessive arm 'ink' was thought up in a record company boardroom? I saw him interviewed on the One Show and he admitted to having goals of how many millions of records he could sell, ideally that each album out does the last release sales-wise. I've never heard of an artist whose work I admire whoever came out with such a materialistic shallow comment as that. The Velvet Underground sold next to fuck all initially but who cares when a band is so great. Surely the goal should be to make a decent living from doing something you love? And then if the big sales come along that's the cherry on top. He also mentioned wanting to 'crack the French market' and I can only in envisage that happening if there has been a renaissance of Worzel Gummidge fandom amongst our brothers and sisters across The Channel. I think it's a pretty sad state of affairs when somebody this shite is lauded over so much. And his album titles are like something the lads from Spinal Tap would think up. Bonafide Babakaka if you ask me......I know you won't.

He's one of the stereotypical appeal to the mass market brigade Dock. I endured 30 minutes of The Voice the other day - they are ten a penny

Although I know the name and face I could not tell you a single thing the little blighter has done. I used to think he was alright because I thought he did the theme tune to Happy Valley but that's The Bugg lad. Then I thought he did the Budapest single but that wasn't him either so I don't know anything he's done. From what you say it sounds typical of the way things are. All creative aspirations in the young have been replaced by materialistic and financial ones by a series of social engineering. Kind of like the same thing I was on about in the theatre thread. Stars like this Sheeran fella talk of market cracking and portfolio building  like some Wall Street Shithouse when we had Lennon Dylan Bowie Jarvis Cocker even etc talking about the world and the cunts running it.

I've also heard the name, but (luckily, it seems) don't know his "music" either.

Can't account for his success - he is an irritating little twat and odd man-fox who has the look of a child molester

When I hear stuff I like and can't place I Shazam or ask. I have never knowingly heard his stuff. So assume I may have heard it and didn't like it.

Jeez don't say that he has just paid for a load of African street kids to be found a home after he saw them getting beaten up.

Similar debate going on on Facebook. Nobody seems to like him except fellow gingers.

Music is interesting as an advert for paper clips.

Mainstream, Commercial, shit for fuckwits with no music taste what so ever. And essential listening for 9 year olds.

Thumbing through a Radio Times the other week I chanced upon an interview with the nation's favourite sweary hardman chef and pretend former footballer Mr Ramsey. When asked what music he is listening to he replied Ed Sheeran. I think that says it all about both.

Talking about music you think is rubbush what about that Rag n Bone man thing? , Human I think its called. Holy moses my ears go into spontaneous vomiting whenever I hear it. I hear Jamiroquai is back with his excruciating trudge  an'al. He can fuck off as well. End of Despatch

Good point re Ramsey. I love his restaurant trouble-shooting programmes because he talks a lot of sense about business and restauranting but his Sheeran fondness shows that even with all the worldly international lifestyle stuff he sticks to the mainstream for his music and chooses to listen to baba. I know taste is personal but Sheeran? Fuck that noise!

Re Rag n' Bone Man. He's got a good voice but as soon as you hear the big hit single you can see the trajectory: Radio 2, Later With Jools Holland, and every bland daft get you know going: "It's dead good innit!".

Here's how bonkers Sheeranmania is, Fucker was on Desert Island Discs recently. WTF???? You used to have had some kind of a career before you got anywhere near that show. I might send a strong letter to Kirsty.
