Hunt vs Lauda

Excellent docu on tonight BBC2 about the fight for the F1 title between playboy James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

I was just a nipper in 1976 so dont really remember the whole story at the time but I do remember staying up late to watch Hunt drive in the final race in Japan with the sound off so my mum didn't know.

Brilliant, I was going to put pretty much the same however I was going to brake for the first corner.

I went to a GP at Brands Hatch either in (or perhaps just after?) that era (we camped and went to some of the practice sessions too) and I'm pretty sure Lauda won.

What?

I said Lauda won!

Mansell was in a JPS, I think.

You don't realise how noisy motor racing is until you go to an event.

So, it's more like

Brmmmm Brmmmm yeeeeeeeeummm ummmeeeee eeeeeee brmmmm brmmmmmm

I once sat in one of those Lotus JPS cars around that era. (possibly a 77 or a 78.)

Did Mario Andretti drive one of those?

I went to Silverstone once. Came home soaking wet and with a stiff neck and a headache.

Best watched on the telly. (highlights only)

I bet James still comes first, even if your girlie friend manages to grab pole in the warm-up laps.

I can't work out if it is a film that's worth seeing or not.

It could be truly appalling or rather good. I suspect the former, but you never know.

Camilla Long (Times) was truly scathing about Chris Hemsworth (Hunt) but says the rest of the movie is pretty good

In real life Hunt and Lauda were good friends but I don't suppose that would have made much of a story.

I wonder if he's still got Joans flaps stiched to the side of his head or are they a bit like Trigger's broom.
