H Is For Hawk

I am lead to believe this has been a big seller back in Blighty. I'm about half way in and so far so bloody marvelous. I thought it was going to be about a woman training a Goshawk and to a degree it is but she's also just lost her dad and she's reflecting on that and retelling the story of another bloke who wrote a book about training a Goshawk years ago and apparently the hawk was his escape or coping mechanism, I'm not sure which yet, while he came to terms ith his homosexuality. Sounds pretentious, it isn't. It is very, very, very well written and hard to put down.

I'm labouring through Dan Brown's Inferno, which I took as some fluff to read when I went to Puerto Rico a week or so ago. It's a thoroughly annoying book on almost every level (or ring?). I might not even bother to finish it.

Your sounds much better - I'm due a trip to Barnes & Noble, so may well pick one up.

Including myself I know of four people who have not read Inferno through.

It's garbage.

He tries so hard to be clever, he ends up being one of those twats you do your best to avoid eye contact with when you go to the pub.

Except when it's their round, obviously.

I have a hard time with most fiction. I keep trying but I think it's a lack of imagination on my part. Only David Whitehouse of late has managed to draw me in to a fictional world.
