Guineas Meeting, Newmarket. THIS WEEKEND! (MCR)

First two of the five British 'Classic' races of the flat season. Top notch three-year old horses who have been in training all winter and are ready to do their thing. Its the 2000 Guineas on Saturday at 3.10 and then on Sunday the girls get to strut their stuff in the fillies-only 1000 Guineas at 3.15. Both races as well as others on the day will be live on CH4. The drainage system at Newmarket is tip-top so the going shouldn't be too bad even after all the fecking rain we have had.

I can't wait me!

2,000!

How do the horse race without treading on 'em?

It looks like I might be back in Blighty in a couple of weeks but, alas, not quite long enough to tag along to a mate's stag "event" at Goodwood races.

I'll have to make do with Tony the Pony and Donkey Howdy at the farm down the road.

Substitute in a certain feisty rabbit and everyone will be happy.

Used to really enjoy the flat season. Gambling days well over, and with that went the buzz for me.

I'm dead lucky with that Kev. I love the racing even if I haven't had a bet. I didn't bother betting on any of the races in the Guineas meeting for the simple fact that nothing really jumped out at me formwise. Speaking of the form book, it was no good on Sunday when an outsider Homecoming Queen won the 1000 Guineas by EIGHT lengths at 25-1. WTF? I wouldn't have picked that if I'd looked at the paper for a week.
Grind

To be fair, none of those horses should be jumping out at you.

They're not trained for it.

Good one Grinder. Get back in the knife drawer.

I read on Reg that they are forced into it. They have their freedom taken away from them as soon as they are born y'know. Many want to study for the priesthood or go on a gap year to South America but instead cruel racing trainers feed and shelter them and make them run. What a stupid thing to do. A strong fast animal with hind quarters that have enough strengh to kill a man instantly with one kick being made to run???? Its not on. It really isn't. Somebody should write a strong letter. Its not as if they as a species have been running across the plains of North America or Outer Mongolia since the dawn of time. No, running and jumping isn't natural to them at all.

PS Off to York races for the Dante meeting next Thursday. Ace!
Grind

Dante meeting?

Do they have to do seven laps over fire and brimstone?

Are there only four horses allowed in the race?

No wonder they have long faces.

Etc. Etc.
