Grounds you can see from Trains

I still get that juvenile thrill when i see a ground from a train and point it out to anyone who cares to listen, It always sparks off memories. I’ll start with the obvious ones first. Elland road and Huddersfield Town. As you come into Huddersfield from Leeds you can see both of course. Huddersfield have of course changed grounds but its still in the same area as the old Leeds Road ground. The high bank behind the stadium is Kilner bank where i did a lot of my supposedly growing up.

Right anyone else going to play or do i have to wade in with another?

all right then, continuing on the same train line to Manchester you can see the city of Manchester stadium in Eastlands home of Man City. Only been there once to see us draw in the year we went down. James Milner was awesome and i knew then and there that sadly i wouldn’t be seeing much more of him. Right, your turn

The Emirates.

Slightly off topic but I always seem to see Stockport Countys ground coming to land at Manchester Airport.
I seem to remember seeing Highbury from the train on a trip to London as a kid.

Yes indeed. good one Fin and you can still see the old Highbury as well on the same train into that there.

The Line into Aberdeen passes Montrose's ground i seem to remember. How i laughed after i sang the Space Station No'5 riff whilst the rest of the train muttered something or other under their breath that i couldn't quite catch.

You can see Millwall's new ground travelling out of London Bridge to Gatwick.

Just to clarify, that's you travelling, not the ground  *danged hanging participles*

I think you can see Villa or Brum from the train, could be Walsall.

Come to think of it, i might have been on the motorway when i saw which ever one it was.

You can see Walsall and Villa from the Motorway, not sure about by train as my routes into Birmingham don't pass that way.

On route up to Leeds, I pass Stoke City, Macclesfield Town, Stockport County, Manchester City, Huddersfield Town and Mecca...

You used to be able to see Walsalls old ground from the train as well I seem to remember. Peterbro is adjacent on the left of the main Leeds- Wakey- Donny – London Kings X line.

Used to be quite exciting catching a brief glimpse of St James Park from the train in a fearful kind of way.

The trans Pennine Liverpool takes you within smelling distance of OT  after leaving Manchester which is never a pleasant few minutes.

The old Floodlights going make it harder to spot the grounds these days. I m pretty sure you could see the Hawthorns once upon a time from the train but not anymore

You can see Wembley as you pull in on the Tube.
Does that count?

No and neither does seeing things from an aeroplane  , i am simply not tolerating this kind of liberty taking.
fartcatcher

You can see the Ricoh Stadium from the train, but only if you are travelling to or from Nuneaton.

But you can see it from  a train. Not taking liberties.
Was my first glimpse of seeing the new Wembley from the TRAIN window.
So Tube Trains dont count?  Its not got wings, you know.
