Gone Girl

For some reason the missus wanted to go to the cinema yesterday (it was our wedding anniversary - I'd suggested other "more typical" things) and she chose Gone Girl with the "he plays loads of different characters, honest" Ben Affleck.

Given that she had already read the book (I hadn't), I'm wondering if I should be worried.

It wasn't the best or the worst film I've ever seen (not really one you "need" to see at the cinema - wait until it's free on the idiot box), but it definitely was the most recent.

* I'm writing this from the basement. *

There were eight people at the showing - and only one of them was male.

* Cue gag. *

This is on my to see list, I'm a big fan of David Fincher (Zodiac, Fight Club, Seven)

I think I would have enjoyed it more on any other night - I now think The Grindstress might even have evil intent - so if I don't post for a few days......

Anyway, I quite enjoyed the bulk of the film (it's fairly long?) but it seemed to stop taking itself seriously towards the end and I'm sure there were some other avenues explored more in the book (possibly her relationship with her parents?).

Not that I've read it, like.

Saw this at the weekend, I love David Finchers movies but I was a bit underwhelmed by this. Most of his films stick in the mind for a while afterwards but not this one. Forum Index -> Fishual Entertainment
