Glastonbury 2015

Watching it on the box. Alabama Shakes are on. More like Alabama Knackers. What a fucking load of shit. Who the feck buys into that kind of faux mix of Southern soul and Southern 70's rock. Any loud bugger can put a guitar on and shout their fucking head off. Hopefully better to come. Motörhead later. Should be good. Unfortunately it seems we are yet again stuck for the weekend with mumbling Mark Radcliffe and the perpetually fawning Jo Wiley. And is just me who doesn't give a fuck about Florence & The Machine? And as for the fucking Vaccines? Purleeeeeeeese!
fartcatcher

With you on the Alabama Shakes. Seem to be entirely tune free and they look like they need a wash. I wouldn't mind seeing Courtney Barnett, Django Django or Hot Chip - but not enough to spend £100 + tramping around in the mud and cow crap and queueing for the shithouses.
Jo Whiley would bore the legs off an oil rig.

And I thought Alabama Shakes sounded good (well that second song anyway). Might even have to invest 5 minutes of my time searching for their album on Piratebay

Saying that there was a lot of dross on. Mick fucking Ronson and guests for starters. And those poncy blokes called Caribou.

I like concerts. Was up at T in the Park last year and got something lined up this year but Glastonbury would only appeal if I could retire to a nice hotel room each day.
Frazier Cranium

Mark Ronson?

I love concerts, not too keen on watching them on the telly like.  Notice a lot of people online slagging Glasto goers, miserable pointless bastards, whiffs of jealousy tbh

Mick Ronson? Best comeback EVER!
Late Doors

 Jimi Hendrix on tonight.

Chuff me i caught some of the Libs last night. Loved em back in the day but that was limp, they looked like they really hated each other as well.
Frazier Cranium

Dickheadertines.

I liked the Caribou song 'Odessa'. I loved the Motörhead set. The crowd seemed a bit 'beige' and many didn't seem to get Motörhead. Maybe a bit too ballsy for what seem like a very uniform crowd with their floral print wellies and backpacks.
Heyho

Thought Paloma Faith was pretty good. If her balls ever drop she could be the modern day Janice Joplin.

Kanye West was fucking appaling. Watch 20 minutes too much of him then switched over to Suede who are a band who have passed me by over the years. They were good entertainment I thought, Jarvis Cocker sings REM.

I suppose I do Kaye West a disservice. He did do nearly two hours which I suppose is good. But he's not my cup of tea
fartcatcher

I don't get these blokes who carry their mrs round on their shoulders for a whole concert. Is it part of some pre-nuptial Glastonbury agreement or do they get some sort of kick out of it?

tbh prefer watching/listening to some of the dancey stuff. At least they look like they're enjoying themselves unlike the legions of indy landfill combos.

There's no-one as shite as Dolly Parton on this year anyway.
Frazier Cranium

Lionel Richie was ace imho.

Slaves were ace too.  Kanye?  No ye Kan't but so what if I didn't like him, i'm not going to let it spoil a minute of my life.  Fuck me HOW MUCH MORE fecking whingeing is the world going to do about a rapper headlining at Glastonbury?

Burt Bacharachachachachachach was v good also.
fartcatcher

Kanye West is an anagram of Sweaty Ken. Guaranteed to break the ice at parties, that one.

I guess it's so big you can always avoid the shite. Either that or get off your head on something so that it sounds better.

An unfortunate allergy to mud has prevented me attending in person.

We watched the Kanye West spot because Mrs D was a big fan of a few of his albums ‘back in the day’ (I know all the lingo me). It just sounded like he was jumping about to a recording. I wasn’t impressed in the slightest and it went on for fucking ever. I don’t particularly like the bloke for the simple reason he jumps on stage at award ceremonies and spoils somebody’s moment. Especially when he did it to Beck. I love older hip hop but all that bling n’ bitches stuff bores the bejesus out of me. Maybe he’s so surly because he has hamster cheeks. I’ve got a £20 that says he ends up on the breakdown/ rehab route. Knobber!
Frazier Cranium

Sad thing is, the 'background soundtrack' he had sounds like it could be really good but it's lost on stage, which isn't really his fault.  And the stage lighting looked ace.

There was so much 'nigga' ranting going on i thought I was having a flashback to Roots or a 'political' march from the EDL or summat.  I was getting old 5 years ago when I was at Glast, I was quietly appalled by stalls selling t-shirts with CUNT on them, as well as a couple of parents letting their toddler wear one.
Heyho

Maybe I start to get Kayne West. I know nothing about his type of music but maybe he's the rap equivalent of an X Factor winner. Pretty shite but commercially viable. Add in a bit of off the scenes affairs with some dork of a 'famous' bird and you've got a marketable asset.

Add in a bit of bad nigga motherfuckers into the lyrics and that commercial success becomes toxic commercial marketing material. All those little rich white kids love it.

I always thought that's where Burt Bacharach's stuff fell down. Not enough mention of bad nigga motherfuckers. His 1968 classic ‘This Guy’s in Love With You’ would have crossed over a lot better if it had been called: ‘Yo Bitch I’m Hot for Your Booty so, er, Get Busy With my Knob n That’.
fartcatcher

I know it's a hippyfest, but I do get fed up of artists at the end of their set asking the audience to hug/kiss/embrace the person next to them.

You never know do you? Just imagine if we all had to do that at the end of a game at ER.

I love you man

To quote Wrik, the only reason i dont understand Kayne is that i dont like him. Spiritualised on the other side at the same time who were ace.

Lots to like from what i saw and that was hours and hours of it. Young Fathers for instance who i think Butts recommended on here earlier. Also loved that comedy  act Future Islands. Quite a likeing for Young Master T as well.

A few bands also appearing it Green Man i cant wait to hear there including The Super Furry Animals, Father J Misty, Courtney Barnett, Fall, Goat, Hot Chip and a few more i think. Oh and everytime i hear Sleaford Mods i just love em more and more

Spiritualised were fucking ace. There is something about how J Spaceman just stands, but every movement seems to cue in a certain part of the band. True legend if you ask me......I know you won't. He hasn't changed an iota since I saw Spiritualised at Leeds Met around the time of their second album.

Watched the Lionel Richie Set. Fucking fantastic! LR and the crowd. I also enjoyed Pharrell Williams with all the little kids on stage for 'Happy'. And can I also say IMHO that the beat of Happy is pure Northern Soul, especially the opening lines. Great song!
fartcatcher

I love Get Lucky as well. Still trying to get those opening chords right on my guitar. Watch out Nile.

'Birdingbury's Nile Rodgers', now that's billing that would be hard to ignore.

*gets posters printed*

Isnt there some copyright wars going on between The Willaims lad and the Marvin Gaye estate. Something about that Happy song and Aint That Peculiar by Marving Gaye. Ill check it out.
Late Doors

Hmmm

Frazier Cranium

Yes, $7m dollars was it they were ordered to pay the Gaye estate?
Late Doors

That was for another song Codge. This one is maybe next. Opens up some good debate about influences, progression and blatent ripp off actually. Been reading a fair bit about it these last couple of days
