Girlie cocktails

Recently drunk in the Peninsula's rooftop bar on fifth avenue glaring across in the general direction of Trump Tower.

* Bloody expensive too. *

I suppose mine wasn't so bad - basically a rum-based hot toddy - but the missus had some weird Lychee-based gin thing called, I think, a Min Sling which, I'm guessing, is a variant of a Singapore sling?

Whatever it was, she'd been craving it since the last time she'd visited NY with her sister in the summer.

I don't tend to "do" hard liquor beyond the occasional neat scotch, although Irish coffee is a bit nom.

My daughter is travelling to New York on 4 January with her uni.

They will no doubt want to sample a cocktail or two.

Any advice suitable for student budgets? They are staying in Manhattan.

We used some loyalty points and stayed at the Hilton (which is on 6th avenue and something like 53rd street).

I don't really go there (NYC) often enough to make sensible recommendations, but the food over on 8th and 9th avenues is usually pretty varied and comparatively reasonable.

I wanted to see the NY Rangers (ice hockey) play, but was dragged to the Christmas show of the Rockettes at Radio City instead.

If you've seen one bint kicking her foot into the air, you've seen thirty-six. *

Recently had an Irish Disco Biscuit in a bar in Leeds.

Grave news I bring from the Shires my friends. Never would I have remotely entertained the notion that one day our town would host such an aberration but pitch forks are bound with bandage and turpentine for tonight we march.
We have a Huddersfield Cocktail club in town. There, brazen, smeared across the window of what was the Voda bar (itself an abomination of a bar fit only for WAG wannabes and smarmy gobshite blokes) are the initials HCC. At first I thought maybe a cricket club or cycling club. Possibly community center but..... a bleeding Cocktail Club???. I ask you, nay tell you, the world has gone bloomen mad

Filling Station in Leeds was a fine spot for getting out of yourself. Many's the post match Saturday evening our little gang of reprobates spent working our way through the cocktail 'menu' while watching Baywatch.
