Euro PL

It's happening. Soon.

Robert Harris, the author and historian, tweeted perfectly: “How foul this referendum is. The most depressing, divisive, duplicitous political event of my lifetime.

Absolutely spot bang on. The Political animals can claim hard ball politik all they like but this campaign on both sides epitomises all that is wrong with British politics. How can normal decent people engage with such a process and deceitful politicians ? How can we not be cynical, apathetic and mockingly sceptical?   From the moment Cameron panicked into promising a referendum right up to the day it has and will be perhaps the final nail for this country's democracy. Shamefull realy

Cameron is desperate for us to leave.

No longer able to blame Labour, now he will hammer us when we leave the EU and his cry will be, 'well this is what you voted for'.

Mark my words.
Dalek

Anyone noticed how the major players on any side are very rich people who are actually campaigning along lines to benefit themselves ultimately? - or am I being too cynical, that there is altruism at the heart of their approaches?

Nice one Nostradamus . He was never going to stay one way or the other. His party, the Government is in complete disarray. The UK on the brink of disintegrating, a wave of truly horrible racist reaction across Europe and the Free world's enemies rubbing their hands with glee. Cameron, by not activating article 50 immediately leaving it to his predecessor has given a massive fuck you to whoever it will be. The  thing is all the potential successors are in the corner of the play ground shrugging their shoulders kicking stones. But never mind all that, lets concentrate on a quite  legitimate power struggle in the opposition party. Lets blame them for this.

No one is quite sure how all this will pan out. I suspect that in response to difficult ecominic  maybe short term pressures more austerity will be enforced, welfare and public services will be cut even more but at least thse bloody foreighners wont be getting any eh?

Ahh, I see now, yes. Its to do with the flange thingy isn't it and not the Euro Poll as I read it and took it as your reminder to get our backsides down to the polling station. Yes, it's all becoming clear now. I thought at the time what's the point in having another thread but oh well if that's what Grind wants then its ok with me. That's the trouble with thinking isn't it. It can lead you down all kinds of wrong paths. You do need to clarify things though  G. Things like that can confuse an idiot.

For the sake of tidiness I will merge things if that's ok with you. I can see this thing going on and on as one thing and another develops

Fine by me - hopefully you did all vote though!

One of the few I wish I could somehow have got hold of an absentee ballot for.

As you said, it is what it is,but I can't help but smell a nasty stench of nationalism rising out of all of this.

Plastic Man

(Paraphrasing an email I received)

England got turned over twice in less than a week by Iceland.

Once by their football team, the other by people who shop there.
