Driverless cars

The roads of Coventry are dangerous enough already. Particularly the inner ring road racetrack with no speed limit and the much hated Tollbar Island.

Now we have these to contend with. As most of the technology was developed round here, I guess it's only fair.

Just think - no more worries about texting/phoning/watching a film/making a cup of tea while driving

It will be interesting.

Carless drivers would be a much better idea.
Plastic Man

I had assumed that they would be only let loose on specially adapted roads with in-built technology to remotely control the cars, rather than letting them loose on the general highway.

Or am I wrong?

Cyclists. I know we have a thread on it already and I have tried the tolerant approach, given them plenty of space to get past me in slow-moving traffic etc. Especially since the T'Tour but FFS, there are some serious cretins taking to two wheels. Too cool to have a bell on their bikes, still going through red traffic lights, and still riding on pavements. Fuck them! I've tried to be nice but if you excuse the pun, the tolerance seems to be a one way street. No more Mr. Nice Guy from this particular motorist. You want a war? You've got a war!

I cycle to work in the summer and have found the majority of motorists courteous. The main exception being mums on the school run and Range Rovers.

I make the assumption that every motorist is trying to kill me and cycle accordingly. So far it has worked.

Let us know when it doesn't.

So on the day Dock declares war on cyclists two cyclists die.
*phones cops*

That's the problem with wars, too many people die.

I just get so sick of the cyclist debate mate i cant be bothered especially with mates. It saddens, angers and just divorces me from all mankind it is just so fucking tedious and degenerating in its mundane pettiness. Shows people, ALL people, CYCLISTS, DRIVERS whatever to be the selfish envious self righteous cunts i still hopelessly believe they aren't.

Sooooo, Back on topic.. Driverless cars. Can see some complex insurance issues there. Who's culpable for any accidents?

There's good drivers and bad drivers and good cyclists and bad ones.
We all know that people are the same where ever you go
There is good and bad in everyone
And we learn to live, we learn to give each other
What we need to survive together alive

FOZDYKE IN CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE SHOCKER!
Frazier Cranium

My Dad had some nasty bike accidents which effectively ruined much of his life, and put a terrible burden on my dear Ma's life too, so any argument over which are the worst, drivers or cyclists, makes me just a wee bit pissed off tbh.  I know I won't cycle anymore, there are too many dumb drivers and too many who don't give a fuck about anything or anyone else.

No complex insurance issues because this will never happen fully because we are a nation that, when it comes to transport infrastructure, is as fucking useless as a one legged cat trying to bury a turd on a frozen lake. They can't even put enough carriages on trains, let alone develop driverless cars on a large scale. It's all pie in the sky stupid knackers. I saw Dave on the telly talking about building a tunnel under Stone Henge. Priorities lad priorities. If you make public transport accessible, reliable, and cheap enough you wouldn't need more roads. Underground or overground.

*feels song coming on*
Grind

Turd? Check.
Frozen lake? Check.
One legged cat? Needs some work, but with a bit of effort.....

That's the rest of my day planned. Ace!

By Jove Foz i think you have hit on something there

Reg Aid 2014 all we need now is to gather a bunch of singers for each line. Drag 'em from their tax havens or coffins in some cases to deliver a line each.

"There's good drivers and bad drivers"

I'm thinking Johnny Cash in full on yee haw CnW mode black acoustic tucked in tight and hunched high.

"And good cyclists and bad ones."
Got to be Jarvis Cocker in frivolous northerner mode

"We all know that people are the same"
Billy Bragg in earnest egalitarian sincerity, maybe in his new found American accent.

Then a full on Reg choir for "wherever you go."

"There is good and bad in everyone"
Such sagely wisdom automatically demands one of the spice girls, depending on who's flogging something at the time of release

"And we learn to give, we learn to give each other."
Crying out for a love crossed duet. Maybe  Kris Kristofferson and Barbara Streisand could do it recapturing that duet they did to once again throw the nation into puke squirming embarrassment

"What we need to survive"
Arms outstretched shirt ripped Bono pleading to the camera should cover that bit before a final.

"Together alive"
Boy band of the day depending on what month it comes out
Grind

With a backdrop video of the one legged cat burying a turd.

I see where your going with this but we need to help people understand, especially children. I believe the children are our future, Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside.
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
