Devon

Gioing to Dartmoor this weekend camping with the kids.
Depending on where i find to camp we have been told of a camp site close to the Prison which is out there in the wilds. Nice.
Fingers crossed the weather should be ok.

Hope it goes great Badge. If it rains you'll be in laess danger because the convicts don't escape on rainy days, it would ruin their Armani suits, playstations, colour tv's and so on.

What's the name of the site near the prison?

There's some great places to visit round there, if they like ponies then take them here, it's not too far up the road.

Also for your cream tea, you can't beat the cafe/restaurant at Dartmeet (which in itself is a great place to visit), it's not far from the Prison.

As for beaches, Bigbury on sea is nice, as is Challaborough and Bovisand.

My Sister lives not far from there so I know the area well.
Carp

Enjoy

Weather is supposed to be pretty decent for Plymouth, but then you're on the Moor, they have their own weather systems up there.

Thanks all. Not too sure where abouts yet. My new lady friend is sorting out where we are going as she is from around those parts. We have two or three sites to choose from. Has to be a dog friendly site as we will have two hounds with us.So the pony bit is a no,no. As long as its not pissing down it should be fine. Kids, camping and rain is not a very good combination.
Where does your sister live B?

It'll be clotted cream all round those parts.

The cider will be on order also.
Tried a nice ale when i was there a few weeks back.
Dartmoor Prison Ale. A fine drop of beer, must be said.

Ended up on a tiny little site not too far from Prince town which is where the prison officers at Dartmoor Prison seem to live. The site was really nice, lovely little streams running through it and seemed to keep the kids amused and wet all the time.
Dartmoor is beautiful but in the winter months must be really bleak and not very hospitable. Prolly the reason for the prison being out there.
Prince Town has not very much in it at all. A couple of shops selling all the usual Devon stuff.
There was a good pub that had real good ale. Jail ale a good drop.
Took the kids Tree Surfing one day. Where they are all harnessed up and go through a course in the tree tops. They really enjoyed it but not the sort of thing that i would do myself, no feckin way.
I love Devon and think that it is a truely beautiful part of the country. would be happy walking the countryside for days on end.
