Darvish, Roundhay Road

The Persian place kind of opposite the Fforde Grene recently descended on by Jamie in his Britain series. We've got friends who've been badgering to go for ages so did tonight and it is great, great, great.

A bt like a Turkish living room with a semi open kitchen to the right. Very hospitable, the owner was charming and couldn't do enough for the customer. We had hummus and the grilled aubergine starter JO raved about, with some olives and pickles, amazingly tasty.

A lamb kebab, a chicken kebab with rice and flat bread and a gorgeous minty yoghurty sauce for mains - quite stunning. Cardomom ice cream was subtle and fragrant.

Take your own booze, the bill with coffee and £3 corkage came to £33.50 and we left £40 happily.

GO!

Yeah we saw it on Jamieís show, it looked good and is on our list, more so after reading that but so is his own place in town that we havenít managed yet. †

Whatís the nearest, decent pub around there. We used to get in the FG occasionally back in the day for the odd band and our trips to Bob Jackson cycles in Harehills.

that is some tip   tryyryo.gif

See what response we get, did you go midweek and how busy was it, I would expect it to be mobbed after JO's shout.

Friday night, busy but not overly, you can book.

I've already been out with Foo for a meal, 'bout time someone else had a piece of me.

Thanks for the heads up Gambo. I have had some cracking curries on that stretch of Roundhay Road but never been in there. Alas, as Fozdyke has mentioned there are no pubs around there. Delaneys bar, Fuck that. Or The Brown Hare further up in Harehills, also fuck that. The Roundhay, also fucking fuck that. Maybe best to skip the pre-meal drink of pop.

How about Saturday January 28th for a meal here? Happy to book it and everything - we're up for it.

Meet in Chapel A and then get taxis/ cars down.

Sounds good to me.

28th would be great for us as it's Ellen's birthday but, I'm not sure Heather would approve.

After that we'd be fine...
